and as CCJ s disappear after 6 yrs , the correct answer is


I have checked my credit report with the three credit reference agencies , and no CCJ s are showing


if they ask "have you EVER HAD a CCJ , then the OP must answer correctly (if they wish to) , however a CCJ disappears from sight after 6 yrs and in the words of National debt line


"The CCJ will only show on your credit file and the Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines (the court records) for 6 years. There aren’t any other publically searchable records of CCJs.

If a CCJ isn't paid off (and therefore active) the answer would be yes, surely?

It would appear that the ccj that you have came about not as a result of a defaulted credit agreement but as a result of legal action being taken against you by a former employer to recover monies owed to them as a result of an overpayment (presumably of salary and presumably as a result of their error?). It seems very odd to me that an employer would go to the time, effort and expense of taking such legal action and then not actually do anything further to try to recover the money.


I do not think you should declare this ccj to your new employer.

Don't the London gazette keep details of CCJs longer than the 6 year rule.

Where do you get that the CCJ from 8 years ago is "therefore active" (whatever that means!)
