Easier said than done:
* just had to get a new seal for the tumble dryer door this morning because the dog ate that
* son needs new school shoes because dog ate those
* kitchen needs repairing as dog has eaten, walls, floor, door casings
* dog has also eaten or attempted to eat, full bottles of pop, washing powder, washing liquid, motor oil, cooking oil, glass vase, laptop charge whilst it was plugged in.......
He does have toys, chews, food etc. but prefers the challenge of getting the things he isn't allowed. He is a bit too clever sometimes, he moved a stool that the kids use to open cupboards to get up on the kitchen worktops, he can open the tumble dryer.....
The dog has a deathwish. Thought he would have grown out of it by now as he is about 7 months, but he is a hyper dog and never stops. :rotfl:
Enough of the rant about the dog anyway.
I will have a look at get a reprogrammed key, I don't fancy going to renault as the car is only a cheap run around and it isn't economical to spend anything on it. It is just going to be run into the ground with as little money as possible being spent on it.0 -

a tip for your pup. get a D.A.P defuser or spray. also there tablets available form you vet for hyper dogs a dog equivallent to rhytallin.
wouldnt be a LAB by anychance their naturally psyco through their adolescance.
i had a sharpei cross Labradore he was bundle of energy never slept, ate through any thing and everything including my laminate flooring and plasterboard walls, doors, furniture, cables, his basket went through 3 in 2 months, pillows, duvets, door handles, window handles courners of the upvc window sill would bark at anything he could here or see day and night. it got too much when the kids were being knocked about by him and landing up with cuts and bruises, the neighbours complaining, we took him to the vet to find out why he was acting like it, vet said he was natrully an hyper active dog, we tried many things including change of diet calming tablets etc etc, we rehomed him with a farmer where he could bounce about and have his freedom.0 -

That's the reasom I've never owned 1, don't get me wrong I love them, just toooooo much hassle.
My daughter had a westie a few years ago, eventually he turned out to be the most reliable and bold but affable terrier you could hope for. But when he was a pup she had to go away for a few days, hubby was also abroad so it fell upon me to do the honours.
I walked the legs of the little bogger for about 10 miles, but when we got home I was more knackered than he.
We both needed feeding. The wife had left a steak out of the freezer for me and said daughter had provided sustinace for "Sid".
I preped the steak, did the sauce and veg and laid it out on the table while I went to the garage to get "dog food".
Read instructions and mixed sloopy gooo with biscuits as per instructions.
Took too long, long enough for Sid to trough my entire dinner leaving me with his.
That's why I've never owned a dog;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I dont suppose your dog is a German Shepherd? I had that problem and found a crate was the cheapest option to avoid further damage! Discovered that after replacing two fridge freezers...
I am considering taking my Lagun key apart to try and fix it, but am unsure if my problem is the key or the car. The car locks and unlocks ok, but the immobiliser seems to kick in whenever it feels like it if I press either the lock or unlock button on my key.
I had to wrench the petrol flap off with the ice scraper today as the immobiliser had locked the flap but unlocked the rest of the car.
I have to slightly bend the key to get the lock and unlock buttons to work, and when I press the unlock button it is hit and miss whether it will unlock the drivers door, or all the doors. If it unlocks all the doors then I cannot start the car, whereas if it just unlocks the drivers door the car will start.
Its such a pain, but I dont know whether to risk opening up the key to clean up the connectons?0 -

NO NO NO!!!!
do not bend the key card even if you think you have to your just increasing the amount of damage your doing to it.
the card has a small thin PCB bourd and the transmitterhas 3 small solders holding it to the board the more you bend t the more you are breaking the connection for the transmitter and risk snapping the PCB altogether, the cards are permasealed (perminantly sealed with no opening clips) you have to use a razor blade carefully in order to brake apart the plastic casings and then superglue it backtogether.
your simple and easy fix here is to have a key fob technitian open it and repair it for you wich shouldnt cost you much with a local autolecky. you bend that to to its breaking point, and you have no spare card will cost you hundreds, recovery+newkeycards, in excess of £200.0 -
Just to clear things up about the second hand cards you can buy of ebay is that they can only be reprogramed by replacing a chip inside and then using a car diagnostic computer to program the card to the car which should only be done by a person who knows what he is doing as it is easy to screw up the ecu. So do not buy them as it will be a waste of money.
The common fault with these cards is that the buttons stop working which are not to hard to replace if you are good with a soldering iron and cost about 50p each, you can also buy just the cases from ebay if you break it when you take it apart for about £12.

The previous post implies that
1. They CAN be reprogrammed by replacing the EPROM
2. A person who knows what he is doing CAN program the card to the car.
Then surely, if those conditions are fulfilled, buying a card from Ebay or wherever would not be a waste of money, but a substantial saving!
A local automotive electronics has assured me that, if I can provide a 2nd hand working card, he can transfer my existing car's EPROM to it and reprogram to my car for £60 (plus cost of working card)
That is an enormous saving on the local Renault Dealer's quote of £160 for a new card including programming.
All that is holding me back is the proliferation of scare stories as per previous post and I don't have HARD evidence that my local guy can really do what he says.0 -
This debate has been rolling for a couple of years now in this and previous posts.
It was stated that earlier on there was no way that ebay cards were of any use, they could not even be reprogrammed at a dealers.
But time moves on and where there's a problem a solution is usually found, and it's been stated in a few threads that this issue has now been "got round".
Does anyone have any cast iron evidence that it is possible to reprogramme old used keys to working order and if so what are the constraints?
Maybe then this one can become more than heresayI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
