If you have a receipt from Morrisons i would send a copy of it to ParkingEye with your appeal.

ParkingEye do sometimes have "genuine customer" clauses as part of the contract. If you spend over a certain amount in the store they will cancel the PCN.

That car park used to be a barrier system with pay on exit, managed on site.

If you shopped at Morrisons you could have 1 hour free for every £10 you spent in store, up to IIRC three hours.

Worked very well, but then PE convinced them they could manage it far better!

    Hi all,

We didn't get an answer from emails we sent to Morrisons.

You are the first person I've seen who has said this email doesn't get a response - please confirm you sent it here:

    donotreply@morrisonsplc.co.uk

Going to the Store is pointless. Head Office WILL cancel this if they can (the only complication here is it's a retail centre) so try again.

You need to ensure that Morrisons fully understand that Parking Eye is the modern day version of Heinrich Himmler.
Only difference is that unlike Himmler who was a mass murderer, Parking Eye are a mass scammer

    Hi all,

We got a voice mail from Morrisons today. They told that they cancelled parking charge.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I think, this thread can be added into success list.

It can indeed, Morrisons are very reliable at unpicking the mess they have created (but only when you know to ask).

Great, make sure you save the voicemail.

Morrisons should really kick Parking Eye out as they are destroying their business, let's face it, Morrisons are food retailers, not sellers of scams as operated by Parking Eye and the other scammers.
Want more sales and profits Morrisons,, KICK OUT PARKING EYE

    They can't, I believe.

The contract put in the public domain at some point showed they actually signed up with PE for 5 years at many stores and - it seems, allegedly - didn't even think to include a clause stopped PE from suing M's own customers. We know that because M's have proved pretty powerless once court claims are filed, never seen them able to stop one except if M's paid PE off.

I think there are maybe 3 years left on the 5 year contracts, from memory. M's must be spitting mad and I think that's why they cancel every single one they can.

I recall one from pepipoo last year where the poster was (according to the OP) getting food shopping with his disabled father, who later died whilst PE were 'in mid harassment mode', yet the claim went ahead for an 'overstay' by this family who had committed the heinous crime of shopping with the elderly, terminally ill father with them. I think there were 2 or 3 PCNs and M's wanted them cancelled, the EA was mentioned, the defence was strong. But PE wouldn't drop it and the person couldn't hack the harassment and settled.

How on earth did retailers not foresee this crap, bearing in mind the PE v Somerfield case sent out a clear warning just a few years ago. All these retail companies with customer service at their very heart - their businesses being all about the need to get repeat custom and loyalty - contracts with firms from an industry with no heart at all, whose agenda is money alone and who have history of having harassed and sued people.

''Oh that's a good idea, let's let them loose on our customer base and our staff'' said some idiot. ''After all, we need parking management because they told us we did...it will increase 'footfall' dontchaknow...'' ''And the contract is offered FREE!'' shouted suit #2, rushing to sign up.

    it will increase 'footfall'

It certainly does, unfortunately for the retailer, it's in the wrong direction. Or maybe the term should be 'fallout'?

Why would anyone return to any retailer who is prepared to allow a genuine, probably regular, customer to be opened up to harassment from a third party?

Can you imagine their reaction if a group of thugs formed a barrier at the store doorway and threatened and bullied potential customers away, preventing access to the store?

    Is there much difference?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

No difference. It astonishes me that the Supermarkets haven't realised. They are blinkered when it comes to the magic word 'parking'.
