I can repay early without penalty. And I do 100% see that the interest being low makes sense to leave as-is. I'm just heartily sick of seeing it and having to pay it.
If I could take this out of the equation life would be a lot easier and less stressful even recognising that on paper this isn't a wise Decision it still does hold a strong appeal to me.
I'm sitting tight till July anyway so 2 payments to go through as normal and then a review.

    It's pay day on Friday.
    Next loan payment 28th may
Not sure what June will hold.

Hi PSL not sure about you going into your overdraft again to pay off your loan. Can't you just sit tight and wait till it's finished.

Maybe you should do an SOA again and let's see if there is any advice to be given. I know in the 5 months since my LBM I have had to tweak mine a couple of times to cover 5 week month or unexpected expense.

You are doing well though , well done on the staying in and less drinking .

  • Ideally I will have the money to pay it off. I was just setting out that worst case scenario is not actually too bad and would give me a bit of stability which I think would be good for me.

I can skip a stage because I know what the reactions would be to my statement if affairs. It would be like this-

Stop having lunch out at work
    Buy less clothes/less expensive ones
    Cancel leg wax
    Buy less toiletries/ less brands
    Hold off decorating/furniture for flat
    get less expensive hobbies
One pair of shoes a month

I have recently cut back a lot tho. the last time I bought make up was earlier this year.
Haven't done much with the weekends recently.
    No expensive drinking since April.
Only work clothes bought- although I have got the shopping feeling due to this and the weather changing
    No dvds/books
Need work shoes but haven't bought any
    No take always this month
    No sheets/expensive house things

But a few house-and-social expenses for June. Excluding Christmas June seems to be the most expensive month of the year which will be a struggle.

    Just Tesco and boots today.
Going to make a list of jobs. Got some things to do including study which is stressful!!

Studying is a long long road.

Not going well at the moment. I would love some freedom from the loan. Yes I know it isn't a good thing to pay a loan off from money that isn't yours. But I just want a month where I am not drowning so I think even taking everything on board I will pay it off early.

  • It's all about what makes you feel better, even if it is psychological not having the weight of the loan will hopefully have positive impacts elsewhere and everything will fall into place x

Not been around much. Not doing very much in RL and feel like I have become the most boring version of myself. A bit of social next week. Hopefully not too expensive.

Today seeing family but might need to go to Tesco/boots/primary/wilk/Poundland should be Low spend.

Monday - coffee with friend. No alcohol. Low spend

Tuesday- work. Take lunch im. After work. Home no spend
    But paid from bank account:
    Loan £153
    Mortgage £495
    Tv licence £12
    Broadband £7
    Electric £50
    Credit card (san) £100

Wednesday take lunch in then home pm.
    Management fee for flat £130

    Thursday
    Take lunch in
Dinner with friend 50/50 split bill and probably bottle wine shared. Need to remember not to drink too much. Struggling with sticking to limits)

    Friday
    Lunch out
Then seeing friend pm - not sure of plan 50/50 split

    Saturday
Planned quiet weekend - minimal spending but probably sainsbury shop. And probably clothes shopping too. It's a busy work week so can see the next weekend being quite lazy.

Very pleased about the 4 day week although I am just using the time to be at home and study.
    Very boring.

Yesterday friends went to London and normally I would be jealous but yesterday was so hot I didn't want to go anywhere.

Taking some clothes back this week.
Very unusual behaviour for me but means an extra £150 going into bank account which is really good. I
Just need to remember to do it before the time runs out.
I know we are supposed to enjoy it but for me it is too hot!

I am really itching to spend at the moment. So many things I want. So tempted to take a day off and go shopping in all my favourite shops. I think this will be a lifelong battle. But when I am older and don't have 6 credit cards then maybe I will be able to do this.

I saw some really beautiful but eye watering expensive furniture recently. My brain was saying to me that it's affordable because you can spread the cost and pay per month and if it would improve the living room it's probably a good idea.
I think a year ago I would have bought it but this year I have too much to manage and pay already.
But in 12 months time it's worth considering. I'm hoping I see something similar but cheaper and buy this instead.

    This month will be hard.
    2x social this week
Both are important but on msnsgeing the money easier avoided and definately not sustainable - but this month is unusual and I am trying my best. xxx

At least for today on track.

    Loan gone down to £770.
    Mortgage paid
    Sent clothes back.
    Took lunch in
    Came home after work

Tommorow meeting friend for lunch and then may try and buy some work shoes, maybe brave primark depending on heat and possibly Dorothy Perkins. May just go to clarks and body shop and come home.

    Very boring at the moment.
    Boring and bored.
For once I have a tidy flat
And am up to date on films and study.
    But quite bored.
Paying money back has got to be one of the most depressing things around.

    This month so far
    £3.60 mill/yoghurt/cereal
    £45 sanbo
    £22 toiletries
    £20 household
    £20 oyster
This is £110 on maintenance of life.
I could think of so many better uses of money.

And still to pay all the bills.
    Trying hard.

  • Aw PSL you sound quite down at the moment.

It's hard but when this debt is gone & you are free of the burden of it you will feel so much better.

    I hope you're alright.

  • Hope you are ok PSL. Just think of all the amazing things you'll be able to do once that loan is gone. Plus you own your own home which is much more than can be said for a lot of our generation- so every mortgage payment is essentially a little savings account meaning you own slightly more of your home than you did last month. Not sure that'll help- but it's what i tell myself now as opposed to 3 months ago when i was renting and i was just throwing money down the drain each month to pay off someone else's mortgage!
