Hello everyone.
Thank you Dolly. Job hunting is miserable. Giving up drinking at least in short term feels like a good decision.
Blue eyed I think my life has become very alcohol heavy without me really noticing. I'm not one of these people that is part of a massive group, all my friends are in different places and they all drink a lot and they all seem to want to drink with me!
Plus I am in some sort-of-clubs where people don't really know each other too well and drinking is a massive feature.
Plus my family has a lot of parties and work has become a very alcohol heavy culture.
I used to enjoy a drink by myself at home but recently there is too much alcohol outside the home to even think about having more on top. Are we similar age,I noticed starting to feel terrible after drinking from about 28 onwards.
I am big fan of coffee and cake absolutely.
Going-to-do-it I think I will re-jig things when the loan is gone. It's kind of clouding everything at the moment. I thought the credit card I paid off might send offers but so far nothing.
The mbna has a small portion coming off the 0% in June so this is the priority really but I'm not sure how much this is exactly.
I've been tidying today and getting organised has made me feel a lot better. got lots of toiletries, made a list of what's in freezer, did a food shop, rough meal
Plan, made jobs list for the week. I think if my flat is organised the debt organisation will be easier too. And also clear head can't hurt.
Looking forward to bank holiday weekend, payday and being frugal.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

Having a clear out does help, it's so therapeutic.
I need to have another one, think I will do it on Monday next week as DH is working, they don't get the bank holiday off.

Payday this week. I need to learn some restraint. Today I have made a list of when all the direct debits go out and how much. Seems strange I haven't done this before.
It's going to be a month of staying in, films and books.
My calendar has hardly anything in it although I am not telling the world this. One family party and 2 work nights out. Trying to get through both without alcohol.
And the loan on Friday goes down to £925.
Looking forward to the weekend to sleep. Work has been far too busy this week and not finished yet. xxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

Cleaning bathroom and kitchen today and plan to do living room tommorow.
Then making shopping list and plan for the week. Stay on track.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Be careful about too much reliance on the £153 once the loan is gone. I think you might have mentally "spent" that several times already.
When are your exams? How is the studying going? It will all get easier once
a) the loan is over
b) you get a raise, or
c) you find a better paying job.
And all the restraint and spending planning you've acquired along the way will set you up for a financially secure future.
Well done. Keep at it. You're getting there.

Thank you Verbatim. I am going to take on board what you are saying about the loan. I probably have spent this a few times over. Going to think about this today.
Studying is ongoing. I am waiting for results and got more exams later.
Much like the debt. It is long haul work in progress but I am stepping it up second half of this year.
Going to think about what you have said today.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

I use YNAB and swear that it's helped me get rid of my credit cards and has helped me budget towards Christmas and just everyday stuff - it's been life changing and I cannot recommend it enough. Whenever I get paid I can't wait to assign all of the money to the various areas, making sure I give myself some 'fun money' for nights out etc.
I also have an excel spreadsheet on my computer showing all of the outgoings and incoming money arranged by date - I add EVERYTHING and there are currently 26 different outgoing transactions on there, it works out how much I have left each month. I love it because I tweak it each month and it shows me how things are looking up until next February. YNAB doesn't really let you do that, you can only budget the money you have!
I can't believe you've never written everything down. But i'm a bit of a list maker :rotfl:0
