So excited to see the back of 2016. Nothing terrible happened but it seemed to be a whole series of depressing events, sadnes everywhere, failures, frustration and facing up to this LBM.
2017, if only by default will be better.
I feel like I am retaking some control back into my life. A lot of my friends run their lives giving into outside pressures and I have been guilty of this but some of my friends are different and in my opinion more content.
I am hoping to shift my life into this mindset. These friends don't understand credit cards, or designer labels, expensive clubs or restaurants. Their clothes aren't all brand new and they wear things for comfort over style. i need to learn how to strip everything back and learn my own content style in this mindset. For me it looks like reading 4-5 books s month, studying and not bowing to social pressures.
I'm doing it.
Gave myself budget of £60 for food till payday 27th. So far it looks like this-
£6.91 Lidl
£2.90 plus £3.20 lunch and bacon roll
£10.18 Iceland
£6.90 Tesco* estimate no receipt self service
£29.91 left 31.12.16
Notes to self -eat from freezer, make soup for next week lunch, it is possible, try harder.
Part of the problem is my mum is a feeder (no blame just fact) so as children we rarely ran out of anything but when it happened it was devastating so now as an adult I always stock up on life's essentials when they are cheap.
Iceland includes tea for cupboard, I have 200 before I need open new box and ketchup and cheese. £4.50+£2+£2.
So won't buy again till march.
im including work lunch in my budget if I eat alone but if I go out with a friend that counts as social with a sub folder of work social.
May go swimming tommorow to try and get into good habits. Put on a bit of weight recently. I don't think it's just Christmas so need to give that some attention.
Happy new year to everybody. Best of luck and good wishes for 2017. xxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Thank you Seaside.
I like this phrase Good Goals. I think I am going to remind myself of this in days to come.
Today was good money wise but I'm not sure if it's just me but this time of year is very tough family wise. My parents are amazing but think they know what's best for me and are incredibly stressed by lots of things that they don't need to worry about.
It's been a frustrating few hours. I've come home with a lot of guilt and conflict and a major belief that the extroverts have no idea about the introverts.
Enough moaning. It's good money-wise. 89 days left of loan. Too much social next week but it's complicated to explain. I feel I have too many friends And catching up with 3 next week and then family on Saturday.
Then 1 more important person to see and clearing my diary.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

I had planned for today to be a bit more productive but flat is still very untidy and I am very unorganised.
Must do better.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Thanks Ramble I wish I was doing as good as it sounds. I am positive but failing everywhere. It will get better and I am happy, it's just messy on the debt and going in the wrong direction. But it will get better.
Boring for all but me. (Warned)
Today I ate the frozen pizza. It was disgusting. I need to remember this feeling and not buy any more. i do feel slightly happy about how bad it was because I've been cooking recently and I think my taste buds are getting used to better food. must remember that I don't need to buy lots in Iceland. Just cheap things I normally buy and sausages.
I need to do a shop saturday morning. This is the only time I have until Monday evening.
I need to keep putting milk in freezer. This helps. Keep buying bread for freezer. This helps.
Make soup for lunch next week.
This helps.
Need to stay on track but my goodness it's tough. i need to make sure that I sort out the overdraft first and then the remainder of the credit card. So be sensible.
New year is helping.

I so associate with this - I often feel like I am majorly failing when everything seems tough and forget all the mini achievements! I beat myself loads about how I manage stuff at work. All self destructive stuff!
Ref Pizza - it's really really simple and super cheap to make your own if you are getting into cooking more - and then you can load it with whatever you like. Google easy pizza dough recipe (recipes.co.uk is the one I usually use) make it up. I then make my own topping by boiling off a tin of chopped toms with garlic and italian herbs until thick and sticky, smear it all over and stick on everything else. If you buy mozzarella, it's cheap too! That said you can't beat a shop bought one when you want something quick and easy. i always hanker after the really expensive ones with hardly anything on them for some reason! Aldo do a great version for under £3 in the fridge section - a bargain compared to the £5-8 ones that try and entice me. Aldo's & Lidl's frozen pizzas are actually pretty good too! Yummmmm pizza!
Making soup is on my to-do list too. I usually make one with butternut squash but am getting seriously bored with it. Any recommendations welcomed!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
