  • Phew lets all breathe.

    Just a few points.
I'm not advocating adding debts to mortgage as a route for everybody. It is one I am thinking about and considering for me in my circumstances. Thinking and considering. Just thinking and considering.
Please nobody else post and tell me your thoughts on this.

I haven't done it, I've not deciding I am just considering my options that are open to me. And how this would affect me and what this would mean.

I appreciate that it's not ideal but nothing about debt is ideal.

But I am definately not celebrating.

Some mortgages you can overpay and mine is one of them. So if I had added the debt to the mortgage I would be able to overpay as and when I could. But the repayment rate would allow me to breathe which a lot of people seem to have overlooked. And that's fine for them but I need to do what is best for me.

And something best on paper might take its roll on a persons mental health. And that person might start considering their options.

    That's all.
2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

    2018 plans - reduce debt
  • The way to debt freedom isn't always a straight road and it's not the same for everyone.

I get that a lot of people are trying to offer you their best advice but sometimes its just best to listen to people (well read what they are saying) and try to understand their reasons for making the choices they are making.

PSL if the right choice for you is to pay off your 0% cards then do that, if you remortgage then fine. Either way you still need to have a plan and a focus on how you will reduce your debt in a time that you are happy with.

I paid off all our debt in 2013, found myself back in £15k of debt )not much to show for it) which I am now struggling to pay off. I'm doing it my way, I get that some people might have done it differently, maybe they wouldn't go out for dinners, to the cinema or go on holiday but hey ho my journey is my own so there you go.

You do you PSL and I'm here cheering you on all the way!!!

As a mortgage adviser I see lots of people every day raising some funds to consolidate debt. Providing it's affordable to you then there is no harm in seeing it as an option, you can always seek some free advice from a broker firm, just make sure they're a firm that don't charge a fee until completion. Everyone here is looking out for you but we are all different, I chose a loan for some of my debt because I felt it was the best option for me, it so far has been! :).

It's really hard doing it on your own, I lived in London on my own and didn't know anyone and I really struggled (didn't have a mortgage so super expensive rent too!). Big Hugs to you, hope you're entering the weekend feeling positive and you have a good one! xxx

  • It is ok. Sometimes it's hard to explain how things are.
Its not easy. I'm paying all the money back so whether it's secured or unsecured is the same to me.
Adding it to the mortgage would put me in a similar position as if I had bought the flat 12 months later and would still leave me some generous equity. It really wouldn't be the end of the world and I would be much happier than I am now.

  • I really get how much of a struggle it is to do this alone. I'm not going to offer advice, it sounds as if you have had enough of that. Just saying I understand, that's all.
