  • Awww thanks everyone. I think Christmas can get so intense. You hear about people spending vast amounts. My parents told me a long time ago it's about the nieces and nephews and they're not too worried about anyone else. Recently it's also become about grandparents so further squeezed out! But they have always been very low key which is nice.

I had forgotten about Debenhams, I used to love jasper Conran but I think my shape changed and now everything makes me look like a triangle.

I do love white stuff but try and stay out of John Lewis. The oxford street one is in a very dangerous location for spending! Joules is like a cross between fat Face and white stuff but a bit more sort of "posh mummy". I quite like that style as I get older.

I do go to primark but I don't enjoy it and I feel like a lot of it is quite out there/brave plus in London it can be an incredibly intense experience! But having said that I think the best ranges are found in the London stores. And vest tops and t shirts and hoodies and fine . Plus the odd work top or coat.
I think will get to pay day with minimal spending and making do but will make a list for post-payday.

  • Lists are the best, I love lists.

Get a list on the go and see exactly what you need then go from there.

I’ve been lurking on your diary for a while now and thought I’d finally make a post! I find H&M have very good work-wear in their more ‘adult’ section (rather than the logo t-shirt and ripped jeans section). H&M in our house stands for ‘Hit & Miss’ as they buy from so many different suppliers, they do however stock some good work trousers/shirts. You can also swap bags of clothes for £5 vouchers in there (good if you have a clear out and have some unsellable items). I wore a pair of trousers to work yesterday and realised I’ve actually had them for 6 years and they were just £9.99 ones from H&M! I’m also wearing a pair of work shoes I bought for £15 in New Look 18 months ago, I wear them to work every day and they’re only just wearing out (I reckon I can get away with them until February time before I need a new pair). I’m 25 and do try to dress ‘trendy’ when I can but I only buy clothes once every 6 or so months with the odd item here or there if I have a voucher.

Try and eek out your spring coat that has extra padding if you can avoid buying a new one. It’s the most expensive time of year to buy a winter coat and I got a £180 coat for £18 2 years ago by getting it in March, if you buy one that isn’t super trendy but more of a staple/plain piece you can dress up with scarves/gloves/hats then you’ll be able to use it for years to come!

  • Hello Sauceoclock.
Thank you for posting. I always think I am a bit too fat for H and M. Maybe will have another look.
Will hold off on coat at least till January. Unless I see something show stopping which is what happened last year.
It's payday next week but it's kind of all allocated already so not very exciting.
Not much else to report. Glad it's the weekend.

I actually quite like Zara PSL. They do a 'Special prices' range on their website and it's quite affordable so might be worth checking that out? I'm really luck at work i can wear whatever I want so I don't have a separate work wardrobe, I just wear my everyday clothes which makes it really easy when I go out shopping as I just buy whatever I want!
  • I get quite a lot of my clothes from supermarkets or M&S right now.

H&M I get skirts and some dresses from which are quite nice for work but we can wear anything we want so I tend to dress casual to work.

  • Wish it was payday.
Low key few days but very busy at work then London with friend on Saturday.

Going to lower the electricity per month from £50 to £25 as well. Not had heating on so far this year and should have paid off the deficit.

    This week
    Watch films
    Keep flat tidy
    Study lots
    Defrost freezer
    Long hours
    Saturday pub

  • So do I PSL!

This month has been a real struggle, mainly due to bad budgeting on my part - oh well, we live & learn!

PSL do you have a debt free date ? Or are you setting yourself no goals ? Lower utilities is always a win.

Sounds like a quiet week , then a social weekend, same for me this week.

    Take care.

  • Don't free date is probably something like 2032 but I was thinking I might talk to the bank about adding to my mortgage. I know that's really frowned upon but I am going to look into it.
