How long is your commute?

Longest commute I had was when I worked in the West End. Fortunately I worked flexitime 8-4 so missed the worst of the rush hour. I lived near the bus terminus so was first on the bus, picked my seat and sat with a good book for an hour. Getting home was a lot worse, lots of people. When the tubes didn't run buses were chaos, glad when I moved to Milton Keynes and had 10 minute commute each way:D
Best "commute" now, retired and avoid the rush hour (not that there is much here) so 2 minutes to shops:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
When I was working, my past job was only nearby so I arrived in less than 30 minutes from my place.0

My commute is 45 mins drive each way. Wouldn't want to do more than that in my current role as my work day is long (10/11/12 hrs at work).0
-
Currently about 6 seconds commute, but have had various commutes ranging from 1hr to 3hours each way.0

30-45 minutes each way, depending on traffic (to my normal place of work).
I've worked for two employers in all my time (35 years) and lived in different locations, but the commute has remained fairly consistent. (This wasn't a factor in where I lived, merely coincidence).0 -

I wouldn't mind a longer commute in the morning, I'm never in a hurry to get to the office. A longer commute in the evening would bother me though. I was brought up to have my tea at 17:00 but I don't finish work till 17:30 and therefore get home around 18:10 and then I have to cook it, so I already have my tea too late for my liking so wouldn't want it later.
Saying all that, money talks. If I got an offer to be paid twice as much but the commute time would double then I'd do it, but I doubt that would happen.
I am very much the same, my key aim for any job is to be able to get home in time to cook dinner for the family and have it on the table between 6:00pm - 6:30pm, as growing up dinner was always on the table when dad got home at 6pm or before.
But having been there and done that I don't think I would take a job on double pay for double the commute. Being an early bird, getting home after 7pm feels like I only have time for dinner and then it's off to bed.
Once had a really good job which was basically 8-4 so dinner was finished by 6pm. Would happily work 7-3 over a 9-5 as I am normally wide awake by 6am.Current Debt: 0%.Current House Deposit: 7%.0 -
Driving - 1 hour to get there, 45 mins to get back.
Luckily my job is pretty flexible so I set off at 8.30 to get in for 9.30, and leave at 4/4.30 to get home for 4.45/5.15. I'll then finish off any small bits and pieces at home if necessary (no longer than 30 mins). Also work from home on Fridays.
I used to commute 30-35 mins by car to a much closer town but the commute was more difficult as I had to get through town (stop start traffic in rush hour) to get on to the A road - this was more tiring than my current commute, even though it was shorter.... my current commute is up the A1 then a bit of a battle to get into Newcastle, but still better overall ironically!0 -
26 miles each way. Depending on traffic, usually 55mins - 1 hour each way. The fastest was a Friday afternoon where I managed it in 45 mins!
I would not commute any further than I do. I don't enjoy it at all but the job was worth it for me and I hope it stays that way!0 -
I'm an IT contractor, so my commute can vary greatly.
Last contract was working from home, so 0 hours commuting, one before that was 300 miles away so stayed over during the week in a local B&B five mins from work.0 -
Zero-minute commute for just over a year now. Sadly, coming to an end soon0
