About 45 minutes each way is the longest I've had on a regular basis. Fortunately one job was motorway pretty much door to door, and the other on quiet country roads. I wouldn't have travelled any further than that on a regular basis. I did have to travel about 90 minutes each way one a month for a meeting but I could cope with that as I could claim overtime for the extra hours :-)
One guy I had regular dealing with lived in Northampton and commuted to London daily. No way would I even consider that type of journey.

I was very lucky to swap a 90 minute commute from Northumberland to Durham (0 hour contract) for a 10 minute walk when a new hospital opened over the road from where I live. Not only did I get a 6k pay rise, I also realized I was saving £200 a month in petrol, which is like having a 2.5k pay rise. Would I commute 90 minutes each way again? Sure, if the money was right. Wouldn't trade a good salary for minimum wage just because its close to home though.

About 5 minutes going to work, coming home anything up to 3 hours if the traffic is bad!

I think that you can cope with a longer commute when you are younger but this changes over the years.

My neighbour used to enjoy his 90 minute commute each way as it gave him the chance to read or listen to music. Over the years however his views on this changed. He began to find the long days more and more tiring, but continued in the same job for over 30 years.

A couple of years ago he took early retirement from his job. He now works 4 hours per day for a local company.

Within a few months of retirement he physically looked 10 years younger, and mentioned that he has been able to come off medication for high blood pressure.

very much time of day dependent. I can do under 1 hr if I leave at 530am-545am...I don't leave the other side until 6-615pm, and can do that normally in 45 minutes.

If I try and commute in peak times, I can add an hour each way to that.

I technically do a 35 hour week (!!) but this is more like 50 hours in reality. thankfully I can work from home 1-2 days a week to make it worthwhile.

About 30 mins by car. Quite a nice journey too as I take country routes through villages. If I was to take the main route, it would take a lot longer due to traffic although more direct and slightly nearer.

I used to work in London - 20 minute walk to the station, 1hr on the train and 20 min walk from Victoria station to the office and then that back again. Will never do that commute again.

Apparently the global average is around 45 minutes whether that's walking in the third world or taxi in the city!

Longest I did was 2¼ hrs each way each day, for 6 months.

I get up early to avoid the worst of the commute, & on a good day I get out about 15 minutes before the rush hour starts. However, a complex but of work or a big match or a big name performing? All my efforts go sideways ' I'm in stop start traffic for 90 minutes minimum.
And I'm lucky - other travel further & longer. When the new office is chosen/ built, odds on it won't be as handy & I'll have a longer drive to get more expensive parking.
Public transport is not currently an option - but if the drive gets to two hours, I'll have to review matters. Not willing to look for more local work - love what I do, but if I have to...

Depending which site I am working at, it is either 5 mins or 30, on the basis that I go from and to my daughter's school.

From home, either 25 or 50. All hinges on school holidays as well, makes a huge difference!
