How long is your commute?

Hi all
Just wondered how long your commute is, and at what point would you turn down a job because the commute was too long?
Currently I work in a fairly well paid job and I drive 45 mins each way to work each day - obviously adding another 1.5 hours to my day - I can be out of the house almost 12 hours 5 days a week
I have never really thought much of this to be honest as it is all normal to me, until someone I know said she had turned down a well paid job to work almost minimum wage ten minutes from home.

1.5hrs each way so 3hrs per day. When we moved we agreed to give the long commutes at least a year before making any decisions. I kept it up for over a year before requesting to change to part time, which was luckily granted. Had this not been the case, I'd have given it another 6 months and started looking else where. I think 3hrs per day is my limit.0 -
I leave the house at 7.40am for a 8.30am start, on the way back I officially finish at 5pm, usually not home until 6pm, sometimes a bit later, due to traffic. I'm taking the bus and have a 15 minute walk to the bus stop.
Precious commute was a bit longer - 20 min walk, then 15 min train, then another 20 min walk plus times hanging around at the station.
Longest I have done for work is just over an hour by bus, turning into 1.30hrs if I finished at 5.30pm. For uni, my return commute added up to about 6 hours a day (walk, bus, train, train, train) - wouldn't do that ever again.
I think it's not only down to time for me - a 45 minute commute on the train would be preferable to 45 minutes split between several trains or different modes of transport. I think I cut the line at about one hour to 76 minutes each way for me, unless it's the job of my dreams. I have always said I won't do London though (1.30hrs by train to Victoria + 20 min walk to the station, plus whatever it would take in London). Lots of people doing it from here but for me it's a no.0 -
Throughout my working career my commutes have been between 1 1/4 - 1 3/4 hours each way.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm really lucky to have a max 10 min commute. I can get up at 8:30 and be in for 9 if I'm quick. It's great but it stops me looking at other opportunities. I'm a relatively senior but niche NHS worker and the only other jobs I could go for are in neighbouring cities with at least an hour commute, 90 mins in bad traffic. There's a massive lifestyle difference between getting home (/local pub) at 5:10 verses 6:40.0

My office is only 40 minutes away, but due to the nature of the work, we can be sent most anywhere.
Driving: 2 hour each way
Contracted out to a company in Milton Keynes from a company in Surrey, could stay over if wanted but still took 2 hours either way, and sometimes 3 hours if the M25 was delayed.
Public transport: 2.5 hour each way
Northeast Hampshire too Park Royal London, fortunately only once a fortnight but still enough to drive you insane, when you leave work early (5pm) and know you won't get home until well after 7pm.
Fortunately my notice is going in soon, as I'll be moving to a company 3 miles down the road. And a consistently short commute was a big factor in the decision making process.Current Debt: 0%.Current House Deposit: 7%.0 -
About 40 minutes each way. It's only 9 miles and a walk but even that has worn me down so will take the bus for a while so at least I don't get stressed by the driving.
If you can get by on less money there's a lot of value in regaining a couple of hours per day of your life. Being able to walk to work in the past was great and that's what I'd like to aim for next.0 -

I've been working in the same job for 3 years now. When I first moved to the city my commute was 30 mins and it has got progressively longer as I've moved further out. I was cycling 50 minutes each way. I am now commuting in from the countryside and that takes about an hour 30 minutes.....way too long. It has completely put off buying in the area.
For me, coupled with my commitments in the evening, that extra 40 mins each way really kills off my spare time.Save £12k in 2017 / Dec 2017 Travel Cash = £12,400 / £14,000 88.5%[/COLOR]

i commute 30 -45 mins. depending on traffic. All by car.
This is the longest / furthest I have done.
Previous jobs were 7 min drive and then a 20 min drive.
However, as you want to progress up the ladder.. u have to make some decisions. I wouldnt want longer than 45 mins each way tho!365 Day 1p challenge - £371.49 / 667.95

Asked this myself with the job I didn't want, had an awful commute (horrible back roads around deepest darkest West Suffolk, which should be more 'my local' now I guess no thank you! just knew as soon I saw the roads I just didn't want to drive it, it was a strange moment) so I'm definitely about the beauty of the drive, I was so glad
when it turned out a couple of minutes more as my current return journey of 1 hour, 20 minutes it definitely went down as a neg - new job comes with this same length really bizarrely enough, just as familiar territory always think it wisest I keep working in Essex now - just can't believe it the amount of jobs that present once you leave the local area, scandalous!
never expected to have such jobs nearest my old home but it has very much worked out that way whether good or bad.
