I found the same as some others on here, that couldn't find any straight away that were good in tea so got used to quickly black! Coffee I've found Koko is good, and is ok in tea if you use a small amount otherwise quite creamy.
I don't really use it nowadays but I've had lots of success with almond milk in the past and that's what I always buy now ifI need some for a recipe or anything.
I've tried hemp milk in the past and it's fine - very creamy.
Rice milk is good if you prefer thin milk, but I found some could be very sweet.
As an occasional treat - Alpro Dark Chocolate Almond Milk is AMAZING!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old Style, Crafting and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. recipe for soya milk - advantage, you can control the sweetness!
Soak 6 oz soya beans in 2 pints water for 12-24 hours. (In fridge in summer to prevent fermentation)
Strain off soaking water and measure it. Rinse beans. Replace strained off water with the same amount of fresh.
Blitz beans and water in liquidiser.
Pour into large pan or preserving pan with 2 more pints of water, bring to the boil then simmer 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Strain into a bowl through a cheesecloth or jcloth lined colander. When cooler gather up the cloth into a dolly bag shape and squeeze out thoroughly.
Stir in 1 dessertspoon of honey.
Makes 4 500ml cartons-ful.
Can be frozen (don't worry, it goes brownish when frozen but returns to creamy colour when defrosted).
Give a little stir or shake before using.
The remaining ground soya can be spread over a baking tray and toasted for aprox 20 minutes on Regulo 4 - add to homemade granola recipes.
Alternatively the residue (called okara) can be used in any recipe for soya bean loaf or burgers - start from after beans are cooked and mashed.
Okara can be frozen if you don't want to use it straight away.
Great recipe, but please bear in mind that honey is not vegan!!!
Replace with agave nectar, maple syrup, coconut syrup etcI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old Style, Crafting and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I use LIDLs soy milk, which is pretty cheap.
If I run out, I sometimes blend some oats with water. Works ok for cereal if you shake well.0 -
Rude Health hazelnut milk for cereals, porridge and batter - I find this seems creamier.
Oatly Frothable milk for coffees.
Rude Health almond milk for tea.
Plus, the Oatly choccie milk is the best I've tried (IMHO) but am now off to seek out the Apro dark chocolate one after reading Elsiepac's recommendation above.:hello:0 -
I use soya milk for tea - Sainsbury's own brand (I stopped buying Alpro Soya - loved the taste but it was far too expensive). However, I do use Alpro Almond milk for porridge - which is really delicious.0

I personally like coconut milk (KoKo) the best. I also like hazelnut milk but it's quite a strong flavour.0

I use Alpro unsweetened almond milk for everything. I get plenty in when it is on offer at Sainsburys.
It's fine in tea, porridge, custard etc.0 -
I love oat milk. I've just bought hemp milk for the first time, and it is beautiful.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £123.74/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month.
