Neighbours smoking weed

Sigh. Only on MSE would you get posters arguing that there's no ill effects of children passive smoking drugs. The OP wanted help and advice, not a discussion on whether or not what's bothering her should be bothering her. It's simply not possible to see all the smoke and fumes, the majority isn't visible. I can't believe the audiacity/stupidity of some posters.
That's rather what I thought - followed by a second thought of "Wonder what they smoke - and are busily making excuses to other people about it being okay?"0 -

Take as an example the highly regarded primary school opposite my daughter's rental, which has a busy main road on one side and the M5 on the other. Those kids are getting a good dose of particulates every day, but there's a waiting list for places.
The problem here is that the law may not to provide much of a solution, and I notice you've not supplied one either. Positive pressure ventilation is one that could probably work, but this is a rental and the cost and hassle gaining permissions for alterations might outweigh that of just breaking the contract and finding somewhere else.0 -

They aren't the kind of people you'd want to approach to complain and i don't really know what to do.......
With respect, yes you do.
You "Grass" (see what I did there??) them up to Police or anonymously via. Crimestoppers..
You'd do so if you were aware of a murder, so it ain;t a matter of principle, but degree.0 -
That's an obvious one to me personally - ie "grass them up".
However, I do know its a sight easier for some people to do this than others. I dont have children for instance - so there's only myself to consider if I'm trying to summon up nerve to deal with a wrongdoer.
...and yes...it does help to have enough of what some might call "a sense of entitlement" that at some point that clicks in and goes "I'm entitled not to have to put up with that - does anyone else I know personally put up with that? Nope....right monkey...." and I get onto dealing with it...
If you have children to consider and arent used to seeing people you know live without that sort of thing going on and therefore feel "entitled" not to have to do so either....then it might feel rather harder to do so and I can understand/sympathise with that (even if nerves would hold me personally back for about 5 minutes or 5 days if they were lucky - and then I'd be onto it...).
That's the difference - some of us would be straight onto the front page of our local paper or our MP and others of us wouldnt even know our local MP and be worried about consequences.0 -

The effect would be the same if they were smoking cigarettes... Would there be the same comments, though?0

I don't think anyone's suggesting that the children try a few puffs...while I would find the smell of anything the neighbours were smoking to be irritating, there's a world of difference between merely being able to smell it and it being at high enough concentrations to have noticeable health effects.0 -

I would hope so. Considering most people that smoke drugs do cut tobacco with it it's the same and I would hope the comments would the same. Those comments regarding closing windows, sealing holes and considering moving that is. Smoking in one's own home isn't illegal so the police comments wouldn't of course be valid so the comments would be to talk to the neighbours and ask them to smoke in a different room as much as they can and to consider smoking outside as much as possible. Smoking drugs outside wouldn't be an option for them though. If it's a flat I'd be getting on to the managing agents and informing them of illegal drug use for them to take action. Whilst police might turn a blind eye to a bit of personal use the managing agents would not and they might take more action so they can maintain their income from service charges. Our managing agents complain about everything. Rubbish left in wrong position, stuff left in common areas, sharing of the door code, smoking in door ways, doors left ajar, etc...:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

I also can't believe people actually believe the effect of a smell coming through has an adverse effect on their kids. As if there are toxic CANNABIS DRUG FUMES creeping through an open window. Completely ridiculous to spread such hysteria. No wonder certain rags continue to exist and spread lies and fear, because the vocal minority that believe it continue to spread it in a cycle of idiocy and ignorance.
If you have no idea what you're posting about then don't post.
If you can smell tobacco smoke you're breathing in tobacco smoke, if you can smell cannabis smoke, you're breathing in cannabis smoke. Most people don't think its acceptable for children to be breathing this in, obviously some don't mind if their own children do.
Its the same effect that makes people ill when carbon monoxide leaks into another property via the windows, especially from BBQs.
It is simple diffusion.0
