    Turns out it was legit. A family bereavement meant he was all over the place and unable to respond properly. Relieved and gutted for him at the same time. Cheers all

    You can PayPal to a mobile number. So long as they're signed up to PayPal, it links the mobile number to the PayPal account, and deposits it there. They can then withdraw it as usual, turns up in their account in a few seconds.

    That's a bit of a faff though, if they just want the money. With Paym the money goes straight to their bank immediately; they don't have to move it there from a third party app./site.
