To me,it does sound like it must have been some sort of con.
I only say this because I would imagine that if any friend of mine was expecting to receive a £40 loan, then when it was received, they would phone/text a thank you,and not be uncontactable.
    Sorry,it does sound like a swizz :(.

Always! Hope that's not your real bank account details. Wouldn't want someone to sign you up to a load of charity direct debits.

Assuming by "details" you mean sort code and account number.

So how would anyone get money out of his bank account? Think about it.

errrr........if someone had stolen the phone, they'd ask for the money to be paid into their own (or hacked) bank account. Not that of the phone owner.

They can't without an address. And why would anyone do that anyway?

For no logical reason. I just remember that Clarkson thing from a few years back. Think it's best to keep your bank acc info private.

My other account number is 80087355

I think this works better on a 1985 calculator than on a forum though.

Perhaps, but every time you hand someone a cheque, it has those details on it.

If more people used Paym/Pingit you could be sure you were sending money to the correct account because your friend's mobile no. would be linked to their bank account. You wouldn't have to ask for their bank details.
