No, I was advised to write a formal letter telling the trader about the problem and what they should do about it. Next step is to request ADR, then LBA.
Somewhere along the line, a complaint to Trading Standards also.0 -

Who has advised you of such a long, drawn out process? They're not responding to you, send a LBA then go to small claims.
How much are you claiming? I would keep in mind that even with a CCJ you may well walk away with nothing.0 -

Correct, it is the Citizens' Advice Bureau.
