Hey All

Not much of a bank holiday for me, as I have to go into work today.
Should be a quiet one though, and I hopefully get to leave earlier on Friday.
Going to pay off more chunks to the CCs today. £800 to the Natwest, which will leave £450 balance on it (it will be cleared next month), and another £170 on the Barclays, leaving about £5300 on it. Once the natwest is clear, we will put about £1000 on the barclays every month until it is gone.
I have some expenses to claim at work, so I've had to use my heating oil savings to cover that until I get them reimbursed - bit annoying.
Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday!
Edit:
£700 paid on the Natwest card. I'll now leave the direct debit of £100 to come out on friday to total £800 in payments to it. I love the feeling of paying money off my debt.

Hi everyone
Nice to see you round these parts Perni
I checked Noddle and everything looks a-ok. They tell me I'm a 5/5 credit girl....Shame I don't want any more credit.
Mortgage #2 is now under £60k and that is a big milestone for me - almost seems doable to clear it!
Right, I'm rambling...I'm basically getting on with the same list as yesterday.

B/L/D from stores as OH went to @ldi yesterday. :T
Sorting packed lunch for tomorrow - must do this
Iron stuff ready for the week ahead - I've never done this before but think it is needed with OH working and ironing a shirt every morning. I can watch gossip girl at the same time to feed my net flix addiction.
Catch up on the other side!

LaE - I totally loathe ironing. Always have done! My whole weekly laundry routine is based around me only being prepared to do one ironing session a week & it works!
I wash 2-3 laundry loads between Sunday night & Tuesday night and it goes into the ironing basket as it dries. I then do all the ironing on Wednesday or Thursday. Unless it's an absolute mega-emergency, I don't iron anything else whatsoever until Ironing Day the following week. It always looks like a lot, but once I've taken out & put away undies, non-ironables, towels, etc, it doesn't take me more than an hour & a half and that feels so much better than my old system of pull stuff out of the pile & iron as needed, where I was also paying to heat the iron up everyday just for an item or two. Before I took redundancy, we shared the ironing 50/50 as we are a very gender-equal household, but as I am now at home in the day, I do the ironing & mr f has got used to the system i.e if a particular shirt doesn't make it through the wash ready for ironing day, it will sit there until next week. It works for us......but have to admit it is utterly based on how much I hate ironing!
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Morning all,
Bobarella - Congrats on your little girl
Thank you I wasn't sure if we should get a Moses basket as they don't get used for long, but I think my sister said we could have her one as her youngest won't be using it for much longer. I'll add dribble cloths to the list as I had forgotten that! I don't suppose you can remember the discount website do you?
La e - Hello & thank you
Today I plan to:-- Washing on at 30 degrees on eco setting using less than the recommended dose of washing liquid, & hang up to dry
- Stick to meal plan
- Continue DIY job on old sideboard
- Update signature with savings goal as I didn't do this yesterday
- Quick tidy round
- Enter a few more comps & freebie sites for baby gear
- Keep on turning the kettle off as soon as I can hear it's boiled
- Keep on turning off lights/appliances not in use
- Do some studying
- Leave hair to dry naturally after shower
- Have a think about what birthday gifts I can get for my sister & niece that will stick to the budget
- Try on maternity gear I've ordered & return anything I don't like or doesn't fit
- If we go out today it'll be a minimal activity like a walk somewhere pretty (Only cost is petrol to get there & perhaps an ice cream treat or something small) or to the cinema as we have some prepaid vouchers, just need to avoid the expensive popcorn then!
Have a great MSE day x:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Good afternoon everyone! :hello:
Welcome to Trush and Perni
Ziggy - thanks so much for thinking of me with that magazine. Sorry it wasn't happier days for the Owls on Saturday.
Well, I survived the busiest weekend I can remember for ages. It was hectic - and last night I just crashed and couldn't be bothered to even pick my laptop up.
This is how yesterday went.
Kids to gymnastics display
Me to work for 3 hours
DH walking kids home from gymnastics after I asked him to get a taxi. Very :money: of him but he does have a broken ankle
Met up with friend for dinner at Metrocentre
Bit of shopping at Primarni for the kids summer clothes
Friend went home at 9pm - I crocheted then crashed out.
So today I wrote one of my world famous lists...
check banking and PAD
training at 7am
went back to bed after training and stayed there until 11am
dh took us all out for my birthday lunch (it was my birthday 2 months ago but things were very shaky between us then so we've waited - and it was lovely)
2 loads of washing done and out on the line
bathroom cleaned and cat trays changed
hoovered through
wash and hoover car
meal plan and pack shopping for our holiday
pack clothes for holiday
do my eyebrows before they get up and walk off my face themselves
stay on top of exam stuff
crochet
I don't know if I'll be back on before I go away. We're off tomorrow until Friday - so I'll be back then at the latest.
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Perni it was quite random actually. The main purpose of the website was to sell linen. But they also had a side line in pushchairs. That was 8 years ago though as DS is 8 in november.
Well. I came to a massive decision today. I am going to sell my business. I have been rolling it round in my head for months now. But I have now decided. So next steps for me are going to be finding out as much as I can about what to do to find the right people and how to price it.
We initially put in around £60,000 in 2012 & turnover has differed from around £100,000 in year 1 to where we ended up after the big close down post flood. The irony is we turned a profit in the accounts I recently signed off for last year but turnover is way lower because it includes the affected period
I really hope that someone wants to take it on as a going concern as it has a beautiful fit out & some lovely loyal customers. So we shall see.
I wont speak to the landlord until I've finalised my fact finding. But ideally I would like to end 2016 with a buyer in place.
Current top of mind plan would be to stay home during the day until DD is old enough for pre school (rising 3) would be October 2018 but work doing something evenings or weekends.
Anyway! Thats my 'small' thing for the day

Hi May Marvellous-oes,
Still no time to contribute much, sorry. This month I need to put the real world before the digital one...and we are flying away to the Med on Sunday. :j
Greetings to you all.

Ally Have a brilliant time, we look forward to having you back.
Bob Wow, that is a big decision you have been working through, good luck finding a buyer. I was fortunate to be able to stop work when dd was born, feel very privileged to have done so. We have made financial sacrifices, like no holiday's abroad, OH car having 250k on the clock, meal planning, still having a mortgage (we didn't for a couple of years, but then did a major house renovation when dd was a toddler). We have felt this is right for our family.
Perni regarding baby equipment unlike Bob I have never used or owned a pram or pushchair for my 2 children I either carried them in a sling or hippy chick (when they are older) or we were traveling in the car so they were in their car seat. I found the moses basket useful but not essential, if I was to become a mother again I would get one. I borrowed a lot of equipment from friends and family, including cot, moses basket, toddler bed, potties. We have also passed on reusable nappies from child to child, cousin to cousin, they do wear out but they haven't all needed replacing at once my niece was using one the other day my ds used to use (over 10 years old). I was also given some reuseable nappies through freecycle. We also pass on clothes, saves each of us a fortune, dd is 7 and I have hardly ever bought her any clothes, she does get some new pieces as gifts for birthday's and Christmas (including hand knits from Grandma, which are much prized), but as she has 5 families kindly donating to us she is able to be selective in the clothes that go into her wardrobe and has her own unique look. When she has outgrown the clothes we have a few families we pass things onto. Ds has had much of his wardrobe in the past from friends, which he likes as he feels it strengthens the bonds between him and them. We have never had as many hand me downs for ds, partly as our group of friends has a number of boys around ds' age/size making, great for friendship not so good for passing clothes on as everybody is looking for the same things. Also their is a shortage of trousers to pass on as a number of the boys go through the knees as soon as the look at a pair of trousers, ds included. You need to make decisions that work for you and your family, you won't get everything right, our plan/philosophy to parenting regarding things is/was to not spend money we don't have, we don't need to own something just because it exists, preloved is good for our pockets and the environment. Wishing you an event free pregnancy and happy motherhood for the future.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
