Have spent the evening enjoying Mr Money Moustache's blog & netflix as well La E Bloodline 2. V.good.
3 loads of washing done today. 1 dry and packed away. 2 still out on the line. No housework tommorow. But we are going to take down all our photographs with a view to starting over. We've been in the house 4 years and have a tonne of baby photos of DS still up. Time for a change.
Decluttered a Glow in the Dark science kit by putting it out to the street earlier. It was gone in about 15 minutes.
Glad tommorows menu is all in hand. So no work there either. Looking forward to Turkish bread for breakfast

Morning
Just been on to PAD and total up the daily thread. Annoyingly i some how thought I'd paid off £30 more than my current credit card total is. Well I never use the card so it's just a plain admin error on my behalf. I'm normally really on top of all things figure so I think the tiredness is to blame. I also managed to lose £10 out of my purse somehow this week which must be divine retribution for all the lost money I find around the place
Anyway at least I know where I am now.
Have a good sunday.

Morning everyone
Welcome Trush - hope you like it here
DNMS - that is great about the job - sounds perfect for you! Well done!!
Bob - thanks for the suggestion - Oooh, new addiction!
It's nice and sunny out today - makes a change!
I notice that it looks like my pay is in even though I don't get paid until Tuesday - we have £200 left from last month, which is surprising considering what we had to pay.
I've just been looking at YNAB and our spending tracking from May - we've paid £828 towards debts and £315 'fun money' between me and OH, so I guess that isn't too bad, but £151 of the fun money is take aways!! Better meal planning required. More than half of the take aways are just because we haven't got any groceries in and are being lazy!
Here's me:
Tidy round - always feel better when it's done so why don't I just do it?!
WM on quick wash
No TD
Trip to @ldi when OH gets back with the car - we've been so bad with this recently and getting take aways because of it
Email studio owner to give my 4 weeks notice  but summer off here I come
Read free ebook
Get OH to YNAB is 'inflows'
June budget
Happy Sunday everyone!

Cat Thank you for getting us started this weekend.
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday, ds went to a bring a friend session at his friends sports club and then went back to friends and had fun and made lots of noise. Hi everyone,
Some of you may remember me from a while back, as you can see from my sig when I started my debt free journey I owed quite a bit considering what my DH & I earned back then! But we cleared it & are now expecting our first child so I thought it would be a good time to come back to these forums to help us save as much as possible so I can hopefully take a full year of maternity leave & also so that we have enough to buy all the baby bits we need.
So hello all the "oldies" I hope you are all well, hello to any newbies & any "newbies to me", hope you don't mind me popping by. I doubt I'll have time to post every day but I'd like to drop by at least once in a while to keep myself in check as we've become a bit lazy in some ways!
Congrats DNMS on the new job :j
So this weekend I have/plan to:-- Checked online banking, moved money around as needed to ensure we don't go into any overdrafts & also saw that I will not be going out this weekend as I have hardly any money (unless I dip into my savings) until payday on Tuesday!
- Meal plan for the week ahead
- Buy only what we need from Sainsbugs
- Washing on at 30 degrees on eco setting using less than the recommended dose of washing liquid, & hang up to dry
- Stick to meal plan on both days (We have gotten so lazy lately with takeaways!
) - DH doing DIY in the baby's room - he is stripping the external walls back to brick as we discovered mould in our new (to us) home! It's an old house built in 1955 so we are planning to replaster & put some insulation in which should make the heating bill lower :j
- I am doing some DIY on an old sideboard we were given when we bought our first house, it was neglected back then & two moves later it's in an even sorrier state so I am sanding it back to bare wood to remove all the scratches & planning to stain & varnish it
- Took advantage of Wicke's offer of buy one get one free on all woodcare, £9.99 saved

- Figured out how much money we need to save for me to take a full year's maternity leave
- Update signature with savings goal
- Quick tidy round, keeping on top of it saves having to buy the seriously heavy duty cleaning gear!
- Enter a few more comps & freebie sites for baby gear
- Keep on turning the kettle off as soon as I can hear it's boiled, I don't know why they are set to keep boiling for a few more seconds as it's not needed!
- Keep on turning off lights/appliances not in use
- Do some studying - this will eventually lead to a nice payrise & hopefully a promotion

Have a great MSE day everyone

Hi Perni - welcome back and huge congrats on your happy news. When is bubs due?
You can make it as expensive or as cheap as you like really re baby stuff. Many relatives like to buy you items so maybe come up with a list and then when people ask you can make sure gifts are useful. Without teaching you to suck eggs, steer away as much as possible from gender specific colours for items as you limit their use otherwise. Im thinking of bright pink Buggaboos for example
All the best

Hi All
CCL - Thanks for starting us off this weekend
Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.
Well we had a fantastic time yesterday at Wembley (even though our team lost), the atmosphere was amazing and best of all we came away £27 better off (DH found £20 and son was gifted a programme at £7 ) Hip has been very achey due to all the walking yesterday (managed over 12000 steps) so not done much since getting home:
Checked Bank
Emptied DS's 2p moneybox and bagged ready to be banked Tuesday
Read
Watched DVD from shelf
Entered a few comps
Checked https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win
Checked Lucky Phone/Ashleigh/Numberplatelotto
Love to you all!

Thank you
Bubs is due on 27th November so we've got some time still, but I reckon it'll go really quickly! A list sounds like a good idea but we're still trying to navigate through which items we actually need so need to think a bit more on that one! Definitely agree with you regarding gender specific items, especially the big things like prams as assuming we decide to have another later on I'd like to reuse these things. My sister has 2 girls so if we have a girl as well we've already been promised lots of clothes

Really glad wembley was fun Ziggy sounds amazing.
Perni I have recently had no 2 (she is 7 months now) up to now the items I could not have done without were: baby sling, clothes, dribble cloths, breast pump, pushchair, bag for change items, nappies, a few toys, moses basket.
None of those items has to be super expensive. We have 2 pushchairs both from DS1. A sturdy 3 wheeler a bit like a Phil and Teds but single deck. And a good old Maclaren bone shaker. I have used the Maclaren almost every day since having DD because it is small and nimble compared to the bigger fancy buggy. But that is lifestyle driven. We have to take a bus to do the school run and as they can only carry 2 buggies its better not to try it with a big one in the rush hour. Anyway im labouring a point but the fancy one cost £300 from a discount website should have been more, the Maclaren around £100 & its been lent to 2 friends in between my kids use.
It is so hard to avoid that desire for buying every thing brand new but moses baskets are one of the items I see most offen in charity shop windows for a few £ vs brand new cost." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Morning Bank Holiday People,
Intending to relax with my book for lots of today, but will do one or two money saving jobs too:
*Put a wash on so I can peg it out for drying today. Tomorrow's forecast looks rainy.
*Sow winter cabbage seed.
*Water greenhouse veggies & search for naughty snail.
*Wrap 2 ebay sales for posting & relist unsold items.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch
*£50 Ugov survey cash-out arrived in bank account so have updated my signature
I need a productive week ahead but that's all I intend to do today.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0
