Loan showing that I've not had

Today I used Resolver. On my credit report I found a loan I never applied for or received. This was my letter. Can anyone advise me of anything else I could do. Thank you.
"I applied for an Aqua credit card. It arrived with an offer to join Noddle, a credit score website. I signed up and was mortified by what I saw.
Apparently I had a Provident loan which I had taken out three years ago. It has been defaulting ever since.
I have never had a loan from the Provident! I never would. I never want "The Provvy Man" knocking on my door.
So, on 26/04/2016 at 16:37 I rang Provident to find out what on earth was going on. I asked them why was there an outstanding loan on my credit history that is defaulting every month. At the end of the call, it was established that there was no record of the loan with Provident or with Satsuma. I asked them to remove the entry. The reply I received was that they would have to inform the correct department, investigate further, and to ring back next week.
I did ring back on 03/05/2016 at 16:15. The department was still investigating the matter and would let me know the outcome within the month. Another month of the loan defaulting on my credit report!! My credit score is ruined.
I logged onto Noddle and registered a complaint with them over the incorrect entry. Yesterday I received correspondence from them stating that they had written to Provident but had failed to receive a response.
I once again called Provident only to be told that the department in question was closed.
So in conclusion, I want to know why there is a Provident loan defaulting on my credit report. I want to know why I have received no correspondence from Provident about the supposed loan. I want to know why I haven't received any default notices which I believe is a legal requirement. If I had have received any form of communication from Provident, I could have informed them that there had been a mistake and it could have been rectified immediately. Unfortunately, I now have three years of defaults on my credit score.
Finally, I would like to know whereabouts the department in question are in resolving the situation."

It could be just on Noodle but get a report from the other 2 agencies and contact Call Credit and inform them the entry is wrong and to remove.

    Hi

At this point a written complaint is the right thing to do. If Provident don't correct your credit reference file you can take the complaint further by contacting the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Information Commissioner's Office.

Noddle only shows you information held by the credit reference agency called Call Credit. There are two other credit reference agencies in the UK, called Experian and Equifax, so I think it's worth checking your file held by them too. If you discover the incorrect Provident information on one of the other credit files you'll need to ask the those to also be corrected.

EDIT - Cross posted with DCFC79

A quick way to check your Equifax report is to use the free version Clearscore.
