The current one is that there is a dialog saying it's going to schedule update unless you click on a hyperlink there and cancel the scheduled job; just closing the box doesn't do that.
Very sneaky!
If you don't cancel it, then it's curtains for you!

Well, I am a week into the forced upgrade to Windows 10, and my old PC - now five years old - seems to be running quicker.

All the PCs we upgraded have been given a new lease of life, quicker, smoother and lots of disk space freed up. The only real problem we had was with an old camera/microphone (about 12 years old) that just wouldn't run - so it got replaced.Well, I am a week into the forced upgrade to Windows 10, and my old PC - now five years old - seems to be running quicker.

It's been a long-standing Windows thing that a reinstall speeds things up; I wonder if that's why Windows 10 seems quicker? (I think it does need more memory; I've had it run like a dog on a 1.5 GB machine.)0

I am guessing a machine with 1.5Gb is quite old so speed may be down to the abilities of the processor. That also assumes it is not a 64bit machine which requires 2Gb of memory ....... although we always recommend at least 4Gb for windows.IITYYHTBMAD0 -

I find my laptop really struggles with windows 10, overheats, fan constantly on etc, anyone else had this?0

It runs fine on this machine which is in effect just a tablet with a keyboard. I'd suggest that your air ducts are probably blocked and need clearing out although the performance monitor will show just which processes are using the most cpu and then google may (or may not) be your friend.0
