Really? I thought the last census showed around 86% 'white irish'. They would probably need another 3 million people to come in to lose any majority status.
Where did you get your figures from? Perhaps its true in one or two dublin school districts but not remotely accurate for the country.

There was a census a few weeks ago. It's been suggested that as many as 34 % of schoolchildren are foreign born or foreign parented. Given that there are one million people approx. indigenous to our island home who are not Irish Catholic and the overall population is around six million, the days of overwhelming supremacy in numbers are gone. Meanwhile immigration has risen this year, while emigration continues. Almost all immigrants come from the child bearing generation. It happened to Luxembourg, jersey, Fiji - the indigenous population lost their majority status.

Golden goose? Have you seen the debt interest payments on Ireland's bailout fund?

Ireland will pay back their share of the golden eggs and then some.

Still if they ever have a referendum to leave. They can keep voting until they get it "right".

I'm afraid the vote won't settle it. The losers, whoever they are, will still be banging on about it in another couple of years.

"We were robbed." We'll hear it first about Friday afternoon.

Especially if the result is 50% plus 23 or something.

You do all know that the result is purely advisory...? It's just a huge, expensive, opinion poll, with no binding result.

Indeed. As with all so-called referenda within the so-called "UK".

Can you think of any where the result was ignored?

I believe there is actually precedent for it.
