A lad from work went to Brighouse Auctions at the start of the month.
He got a 2009 59 Plate VW Passat Highline 2 Litre Diesel Estate, 101k miles.
He won the car at £5k, after his fees n £80 delivery, his total cost was £5800.
There's some on Autotrader for that but it's the chance you take, his maybe better ??
  • I've spend a lot of time on the BCA auctions website, didn't find anything straight forward.

I want to know if anyone even without BCA card can go to the auctions and buy a car?

What are the fees (V5, buyers fees, VAT)?

    Thanks in advance.

Hope this helps. These are cars to your spec (not sure on colours or condition) and I assumed manual gearbox and hatchback. Cars sold in the last week from 14th April '12.

is this with the fees included? thanks
  • Hi there
Any car trader who is using BCA please help and oblige.
I just started trading with BCA. Bought few cars some cars were good and some were bad. I just want to know
    1. which auction centers around london are having good cars
    2. If you won a bid for a car which is sold as seen(not BCA assured) and after inspecting it if its not good enough or having some problems then can you refuse to pay or buy? If yes then is there any charges for that?

Right, I know this is a bit of a long shot as this thread has died a death of the last few years, but if any of the people who gave such a great service on this thread (which helped me buy the last Scenic 5 years ago!) are reading I'd be very grateful for a few prices.

I'm just wondering what prices the

10 plate, 1.5 Diesel, Renault Grand Scenic Dynamiques are going through BCA at at the moment?

There seems to quite a few (in varying states) at the moment so wondering if it was worth a visit.

    Thanks

Wisebuyers trade price is a half decent guide. Somewhere between that and the private good price depending on condition.

Only real way to tell is by paying a trial visit and see what they go for...

    Thanks.

Trouble I have is that I don't have much opportunity to get to auction any more so was hoping to get an idea on pricing before I went.

I went to BCA Brighouse yesterday. I have bought several cars from auction over the last 10 years (between 5-9K). It has been just over 2 years since I've been. Yesterday was quite a shock though. Basically, anything that was half decent was easily meeting CAP prices and in a lot of cases exceeding. Case in point was a 2009 Honda Accord Tourer 2.2 EX with 42k on the clock. it went for well over 12k - there are ones with dealers for around that price on Autotrader at the moment!

It was seriously busy though, busier than I ever remember, there were people there with their kids, dogs and grandmas. Mid summer doesn't seem like the right time for a cheap car.

Anything overly leggy wasn't getting a sniff. Not even near the mileage adjusted book prices. Example of this was a 120k 2.2 Honda CRV 2008. Went round once and 'sold' for 5300 to a roler door - it made a suspicious reappearance 45 mins later and struggled up to 5600. Half the mileage on that and you would be almost doubling the price.

There was the usual Auction shenanigans as well; fire extinguishers, bins and empty seats were doing brisk bidding. The car that I went for went through well above book, but has since mysteriously reappeared on the BCA site for auction on Monday.

All good fun, but pick the right car and don't overpay.
