Even if you are out of contract you still have to give 30 days notice.
You asked for a PAC on 15th April so your 30 days notice began then.
If you had timed things correctly you should have asked for a PAC on 2nd April.......Simples !0 -

I get it, but in my eyes this is unpleasant. The rule is made for the gain of the company and not for the convenience of the costumer. It's like 'thanks for being with us for so long, but since your leaving, we are going to throw in a couple of hurdles for you'0 -
Hardly. If ending after the miniumum term you always need to give 30 days' notice. That's a fundamental part of the contract - just as they'd need to give you 30 days' notice if they upped the cost.0

On most contracts you pay for line rental in advance, so why do mobile companies feel they have the right to charge etc as well, even if you are out of contract? It seems to happen far too often that they charge an etc then 'forget' to remove it....0

Maybe because you're not out of contract until the end of the 30 day notice and because meanwhile you have an open cheque-book to exceed your pro-rata allowances.0

How is that any different from any other utility, except they don't feel the need to try and rip you off. If you don't pay, it affects your credit rating and they can chase you like any other company. You're right about one thing - there is no difference. Other utility companies can do exactly the same.0

But they don't, and that's the point. For whatever reason mobile companies feel it's ok. In many ways down to OFCOM not clamping down, but ultimately it's them.0

I had a mark on my credit file because I wasn't informed by a power company of a final payment. No difference. Had I not paid when I found out what they'd done they would have done exactly the same as any mobile company or anyone else.0

Mobile companies add early termination charges and 'forget' to remove them. The Utility company may not have advised you, but they don't make a habit of adding charges because they think they can get away with it like mobile providers. You may well have moved house, so it's probably incompetence on the part of the utility company, not greed.0
