    The time to check what version of android and whether it was a standard OS was before you bought it. It's not illegal to have a rooted android device and therefore the retailer is not doing anything wrong, unless they specifically advertised it has having an OEM android OS.

    Unless the item is faulty or not as described then I'm afraid you have no rights to return the tablet.

    If you've got access to a PC then flashing the original firmware isn't difficult.

    Firmware and instructions can be found on the excellent sammobile website;

    Would it not be the other way around?
    As a customer I would expect a standard install unless it was advertised as having had something else installed on it.

    As a customer buying a brand new device you'd expect it to have standard OEM software however buying second hand unless advertised as having the original OEM software it is just an assumption. I would want to turn on/test any second hand item before buying and it would be obvious that it had been rooted so I could make my decision whether to buy or not.

    Buying new or second hand from a shop I would expect to be informed if the product was not a standard specification, simple as. Most people would not even know that a tablet could be rooted.

    It still is the standard specification it just has different software on it!, which can easily be changed by following instructions online.

    Depends, if I saw a 2nd hand PC advertised with Windows 10 then I'd expect it to have an official working copy of Windows 10 installed, similarly if I purchased an Andriod tablet advertised with say, Andriod 4.4 then I'd be expecting exactly that. However, if purchased a used tablet from somewhere like CC, where knowing it might have a questionable history and with no specific details regarding android versions then caveat emptor I'm afraid.

    OP, how exactly was this advertised?
