Police Seizure

Why do you have to pay for the damage to the car if it was the other driver's fault? If it's clearly their fault then claim directly off their insurance, unless there's more to the accident than you're letting on.0

It is a legal requirement that your licence is at an address at which you can be contacted - and this is exactly why. It doesn't have to be an address you actually LIVE at, although I assume you've been living somewhere. It CAN be a friend or family member - you were misinformed there.
If you think you have a valid defence for a speeding ticket, then the correct thing to do is to refuse the points or course - which are an admission of guilt - and go to court.
I am slightly surprised that you were so injured in the collision that you needed to be taken to hospital, yet your car is driveable, though. Is it actually worth releasing and repairing? If you cannot afford to find somewhere to live, can you afford to own and run a car - and which is more important?0 -
Your Certificate of Insurance will contain a fairly standard wording to the effect.
"Providing the driver holds or HAS HELD A FULL LICENCE"
What is the exact wording on your own Certificate of Insurance especially the part that says or HAS HELD A FULL LICENCE"
Check your Certificate carefully as this may give you a defence against the no insurance charge etc0 -
By far the cheapest & quickest option is to find a local garage or recovery company to trailer or transport the vehicle from the pound. Try asking the police what company they use - a friend had a crash last year, and the company that took the car to the pound delivered it back to him for £100.0

You are misunderstanding. The OP has a legal requirement to prove insurance for an impounded car.
Not simply the car was recovered and needs moving.0 -
Good point - the vehicle I was talking about was insured....
Looks like there's no shortcut here, the OP will have to get a full licence holder to insure the car (& possibly transfer it into their name).. I wonder if the pound would accept trade insurance from the garage proposing to do the work; I assume the car's going straight there anyway.
Surprised that they tried Tempcover - I use them regularly & it ALWAYS comes up in BIG writing prior to purchase that impounded cars aren't covered.0 -
police have already said trade insurance no good. Vehicle must be stipulated on certificate0

i wasn't living any where i was literally "on the run" from my ex and now live around 4 hour journey away.If you think you have a valid defence for a speeding ticket, then the correct thing to do is to refuse the points or course - which are an admission of guilt - and go to court.
unsure how this works but will look in to it 100%.I am slightly surprised that you were so injured in the collision that you needed to be taken to hospital, yet your car is driveable, though. yes the car is worth releasing and repairing. The issue wasn't affording somewhere to live it was finding somewhere safe to live. I've been running my own car for the last 9 years, that isn't the issue.0 -

The driver of the other car admitted fault. however since he found out I'm not insured he's saying i was at fault. police said its probably so he can appeal to MIB or something to get money to get his car fixed but i won't be able to get mine done via insurance because my insurance is void.0 -
