Which fit bit?

This has probably been asked before so sorry for asking again if it has.

I want to get fit (used to go to the gym but found it boring and expensive)

I don't know anything about fit bits. I have used a step counter but find they are not accurate. l can't carry my phone on me at work so can't use an app so thought this would be best.

I would like one that calculates my steps and calories used (don't know what else they do). I don't want to pay the earth for it but l do want one that is accuarate

if all you want to keep track of then the Fitbit Flex will do the job for you.
The Website and app will display your progress when you log in to it.

If you want to check your progress without having to use your phone, then the Charge is the one to go for. (i have the Charge HR, but for my needs the heart rate monitor was just overkill)

There are cheaper devices that do a similar job. The xiaomi MiBand
I had one of these before the OH bougt me the fitbit.

Step counting apps or fitbits are not an exact science. The important thing is your own personal comparison and goal setting.
If for example last month you averaged 5000 steps a day, even if that is not exactly right your goal is to do more than 5000 next month. Your app/Fitbit will always be as accurate/inaccurate as it was before so you are comparing like with like.
I use the Google Fit app on my Samsung phone but I am thinking of a Fitbit as well to cover those times I may not have my phone with me. My problem is I have 18 months of recorded steps as "measured" by the Google app. Those numbers I use to measure my progress and to give me an incentive to get out and walk.

depends what your intentions are. I have a Charge HR which is cross linked to runkeeper where I record walks, runs and Cycle rides.
, my daily step target is 25000 steps which people say is high but who am I to judge. I also have runkeeper and fitbit linked to Bounts (premium service) which gets me around 5000 bounts a month. If you shop around you can get the Charge HR for under £100 - Sainsbury's were doing it for £90 but I think the offer has ended. While people say the Charge HR heart rate function is inncurate I find mine is pretty good. I also wear a Wahoo Tickr which is very accurate and readings are generally within 5bpm of ech other. I've found the Fitbit to be a real motivator together with the other apps and while my target was increased fitness I've also dropped from 83 to 79 kilos in 3 weeks through logging my food and eating more sensibly. There was a time when I would have poo-pooed these trackers but I'm a total convert now. My dog is also much fitter too :j

I use the Garmin vivofit - linked to endomondo app on phone for tracking activity. It shows steps walked.

I've got the cheapo Mi band (v2). Cost around £15 and does everything I need it to. Counts steps, estimates distance walked etc. This part seems to work fairly well when compared directly to phone apps & another pedometer I have. Tracks sleep (not very accurately) and does heart rate too. Battery lasts about 3-4 weeks between charges.

I didn't want to spend much until I knew I'd stick at it. I'll probably upgrade to something with a screen at some point but for now this works well for my needs.

I'm going to buy the Fitbit Charge HR for health purposes.

Prices seemed to have dropped a little, there's no difficulty in picking one up a few pence under the £100. It's just really a matter of where to buy.

Before splashing out I'm wondering if any of you guys know of any discount codes or sales at this point in time

I have been thinking long and hard about buying a Fitbit.
I love my Google fit app on my phone which I have used for nearly two years but thought the Fitbit would be always on me and therefore an improvement. Although I have my phone with me most of the time. When I am home it is often sitting on a table while I walk about and go up and down stairs.
Now I understand the Fitbit is not waterproof. I shower everyday and swim twice a week. Taking it on and off so many times would reduce the cost benefit difference over using my phone.
I think I will wait until the waterproof version come out. Are there other similar products out there that are waterproof.

They are already doing a waterproof version see HERE but expensive.
