I know zilch about these thingummies. But I'd quite like to try one - not just for steps but for gym sessions and swimming. Is there anything that does that and is (obviously) waterproof.
  • I had one and got fed up of it. It's like a smart phone, constantly looking and checking it. You become a slave to it. I feel free again and I don't have to do 10000 steps!!

Don't waste your money, maybe buy the classic Casio digital watch from Argos for £8.99 and stick 2 fingers up to the new fad.

My god I'm getting grumpy in my old age!

I am just using the fit bit app on my phone. I have spent time looking at activity trackers, but I cannot justify having one.

I think the faffing around with charging and syncing will annoy me too.

The smartphone app automatically does everything, and after a walk, I log it on my spreadsheet.

Also I purchased a lightweight backpack to hold my wallet, bus pass, keys and the phone fits onto the shoulder strap. So its all good.

I'm quite happy with my Fitbit Charge HR. I'm not fanatical about it, I hope 😊 But having tied it in with the MyFitnessPal app and following a LCHF diet it has helped take me down from 15 st 4 lb to 13 st 8 lb since mid May

At the moment I've set my step target at 12,500 and I do find that if I glance at it after diner and I have another two or three hundred steps to go, I will go out and do them.

Because it is on your arm all the time it does, I feel, keep you motivated. It's by no means the answer to getting fit but if used then it is a great help. Hopefully come Christmas I'll be saying the same thing !!!

I have one issue with the Charge HD it doesn't seem to want to pair with my Galaxy s4 and I've come across quite a few posts where customers are having the same difficulty with the Galaxy. It pairs fine with my iPad. Anyone here with suggestions feel free to share

I think you are quite right about Motivation. I am presently on holiday and know my average steps per day from last years data so I am really trying to keep beating my daily average despite doing something completely different (on holiday) to my normal routine.
I still have not bought a Fitbit.
I am still using the Google fit app (free) on my Samsung Galaxy S5. I use it with Strava App (free) as that when switched on will map where I walk. However the Google Fit just had an update that also maps my walks so this might make Strava redundant.
Both Google Fit and Strava mirror on my desk top AND on my IPad.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
