Saturday/Sunday 21st/22nd May - What Small DFW Things will you do this weekend?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Today is going to be a spendy occasion for me (v exciting day out planned) but here are the small things I'm doing:
    • Posh coffee at home
    • Not washing my hair today
    • Own manicure
    • Updating YNAB
    • Net flix! - Best use of our entertainment budget for sure!!
    • Reading a free ebook
    • Walk home from tram - free exercise - if it's not bucketing it down...

Have to admit that I miss posting on this site since my new hours have come into being.. Think it was easier previously with my unsocial hours but now with my early starts don't have the time to come on this site in the mornings and then too tired at night... anyway my DFW for this weekend...

-already paid off £900 towards one of my debt free challenges and updated signature
-working later so packed lunch from home
-no money to be spent today
-already had reduced price pancakes for breakfast - a late night run to the supermarket last night and a few reduced price purchases...

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend...

Morning guys  thanks for starting the thread La E :D have a lovely day, sounds very mysterious!

Yorkshire lass way to go with the debt repayment :T good for you!

Just caught up on yesterday's thread. Thanks for all your well wishes. I have been bumming hard over my career and where I'm going. Definitely think the stresses I've been under over the last few years means I'm less resilient than I was before. Need to give myself a stiff talking to, start exercising and doing meditation again and trust everything will work out ok.

    Small things for today:

    :)All meals from stores
:) hang a load of washing out
:) reply to email offering me a interview
:) get something out of freezer for dinner
:) get ys beef joint out of freezer for tomorrow
:) look at what we've got in stores for and get a very small shopping list. Think groceries for this week will come in at sub £30 :T
    :) make some cookies
:) taking did to the zoo. Will be expensive but then we will have year passes
:) someone coming to collect dgd's old bike. Money into garden project pot
:) water plants and repot aubergines, peppers, chillis and a tomato plant

    Ok that'll do x

    Good morning all
Thanks for the start LaE - enjoy your day out
DNMS - I know you are a strong woman, but be kind to yourself as well. It's ok to feel a bit rubbish sometimes. It's been a tough few years for you and I think you're more resilient than you seem to think you are.
I've been a busy bunny already this morning. Trying to make the most of the weather before the rain arrives this afternoon. DH has sprained his ankle so he's out of action at the moment (although seems good mentally)
    Plans for today
    check banking and PAD
 go to the chemist and pick up dh prescriptions as he can't
    small top up shop
 fill car up with petrol
    get ds to gymnastics
    lots of crochet time
 spend some time looking through exam stuff
 get the kids to help with housework
 aim to get washing dry outside
 juggle and sort budget for the remainder of the month
    That's it - have a good one everyone! :j

    Hi May Marvellous-oes,

    Thanks for the starter LaE.

This list will grow as I think of stuff.

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Went to a free 5km P.a.r.k.R.u.n. this morning. (Link) Was outrun by a pregnant lady and a 7-year-old dressed as batman. Not so much a Personal Best as a Personal Death. :rotfl: It was a celebration event so I was given some free chocolate brownies to bring home.

    * Went to my wardrobe this morning to find that the rail had fallen down. Spent 85p at the hardware store on brackets and screws. Will need to tackle it later. Groan. While I'm there I can audit my clothes.
Put the wardrobe back together. Sorted through clothing. Found three t-shirts DW bought me during Decemberfest which I've yet to wear. I've still to go through my trousers.

    * Breakfast was a home cooked grill-up.

    * Reconciled finances. Completed budget for July.

    * Listed £26-worth of postage stamps on eBay from RMSurveys.

    * Ordered two t-shirts from Vistaprint. Got 25% off with a code. I wanted something to commemorate my 100km run and 5km swim. Should finish the swim challenge next weekend.

    * Make a note to re-register at the library. Just logged in to order a book to be told I have "expired".

    How about you folks?

    Morning Campers,
I am on my lonesome today as mr f has had to work, but I'm using my time well & am about to start a bit of an 'Ebayathon'. Money saving stuff for today:
*Watered greenhouse veggies - almost all the sweetcorn is up now....such funny cute little plants.
*Picked parsley & chives to use when I make tonight's fish pie. Parsley for the sauce & will top it with chive mash. Am going to make enough for tomorrow too, to free up time for a trip out somewhere if the weather's good.
*Finished cleaning the house using minimal products & washable cloths.
*Did a decent wodge of surveys. Some of these points are stacking up nicely.
*Recycle old shirt into rag bag, but will be snipping off the buttons first for my button jar.
*Do ebay listings. 2 items to relist & around 18 new ones to get done. So boring to do, but always nice to hear that 'Kerching' on selling an item & knowing that's a tiny bit more for the Car Fund. A few postage prices just to check online first.
*NSD for me today as I don't have the car, it's time-consuming to get the bus & I don't need anything so as all leisure activities will also be free today - finishing audiobook, watching this week's 'Peaky Blinders', starting new library book & sorting through my lovely big pile of gifted magazines - I shan't need to part with any money.
So that's my day........take care all.......of both yourselves & your pence.

PF - Sorry to read yesterday that some or other bad s has hit the fan. Be strong, we're thinking of you.
DNMS - You sometimes just have to be kinder to yourself. You've had a game-changing few years, really with one thing & another & I hope you're not wasting too much energy on beating yourself up. I can be the world's worst for doing this (or certainly I have in the past) & it just makes you feel more stressed.
CCL - Sorry to hear about your partner's ankle. Did the postman bring you an envelope from me this morning? Posted yesterday 1st class, so he blimmin well ought to have done!
OK, must get signed into that there ebay now or these listings are going to drrrraaaaagggg out into the afternoon.

Ally - that tale of you being beaten by a speedy 7 year old dressed as batman has just made me almost swallow a large piece of biscuit whole, lol!
By the way, I thought I sent you a FB friend request last week, but I have since discovered that my Facebook connection (usually accessed on my phone) is not reliable in our conservatory. If, however, you received the request & thought "OMG, no! Not more of the blasted woman's drivel", then that's fine too :-)

LOL. Oh dear. I don't want to be responsible for your demise. I was also beaten by a man who is on his second liver...though, in my defence, he does run for British Transplant Sport.

The Facebook request didn't reach me...or else I pressed the wrong button..I have sent you a reciprocal request.

Oh. My. Days. All afternoon on ebay doing my listings.....not helped by the tracker pad on our laptop getting arsey at every possible opportunity Never mind. It's done now & I can start making my big fish pie instead of fiddling about with postage prices & inane item descriptions.
Cat is visiting next door. I've had to warn them about keeping fridge doors closed & not opening bags of 'Quavers' where he can see them.
Have a nice rest of weekend all,
