Hi
Since I signed up with Sky several years the price has gone from £28 to £38 for phone and broadband.
What would the process be for leaving? I dont really undertsand how internet connections work. But I think we need to give 14 days. I am thinking of doing that and then signing up with another company.
Furthermore I have just done a download speed test online, not sure on accuracy, but is reported as a pathetic 0.95mbs

If you phone to cancel, say you arent happy with the prices, they will probably offer you the the same for £17.40 approx.....Do good and good will come to you.0

Yes, I noticed £17.40 was quoted online for new customers. Is it really likely they would drop it that much?
I have found EE do phone and broadband for £18.50 (first year), plus evening & weekend calls which I dont get. I might tell Sky I am going to join them and see what happens.0 -

If you do decide to move, don't cancel and then apply to your new provider.
You'll get hit with the approx £30 cancellation charge, and probably get all sorts of disruption to your services.
Migration is gaining provider lead, meaning you apply to your new provider who then does the legwork so that you do not end up needing to a new line and your transfer of services *should* be seamless i.e. minimal downtime.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
A cancellation charge if we are out of contract?0

Yes to cancel the line .
As said above you may well find that a cancel is just that shuts down the lot .New ISP may have to wait for BT OR to turn on the line plus you could lose phone number .
Speed test poor is that over WiFi ?? if so its you not the ISP .
Cancel Sky only if you are out of contract on all services .0 -
Yes thats wireless, might try and move the router downstairs, only problem is phone plug is in hall without a nearby power point.
Contacted Sky, very happy with new 12 month deal as per mentioned above.0 -

Connect a laptop with a network cable to do the speedtest. The result from this test will tell you what speed you're really getting.
If your problem lies with your wifi, then changing providers will not change anything.0 -
Ok, so I have tested the router at all three phone sockets on wifi and they all read about 0.75-0.90
A network wire test with wifi off, and its exactly the same range.
Any ideas as to the problem?0 -
