Junk mail - a way to feel better

Be careful what you send through the post. An acquaintance of mine sent a number of computer boards to a company he didn't like. The recipient thought the packages contained bombs. The police tracked him down somehow and he was sent to prison for 2 years.

The terrorism act is very wide-ranging and it only takes someone to *think* that you've sent them a noxious chemical, bomb or whatever and the consequences could be very serious.

In addition, if you deliberately post something without a stamp and the recipient has to pay, I believe that's also a prosecutable offence. Posting junk mail back without a stamp is probably sufficient evidence that you intended to defraud the recipient.

I hate to spoil your fun but you should think carefully about what you are doing.

Maybe he did actually send them a bomb. LOL. 2 years in jail indeed!! :rotfl:

    Hi All,
would it not be easier to stick a note by your door or on the letterbox, "No Junk Mail Please". I find the way you deal with it very unfair.
I have recently set up a business with princes trust, and myself and my partner walk hours a day posting leaflets. We get a great response, without these we would not survive.
We NEVER post to homes with no junk mail notes displayed and we have had a couple of people who have come out and said they dont want them and we apologise and carry on.
Please dont be so hard on everyone, if you dont want them recycle them.
We all gotta earn a crust :)

    You are the only company.

I know loads of houses with this sign and they get more junk mail then I do.,

Addressed mail I get rid of using the mail preference service or the Data Protection Act. Unaddressed mail just goes in my recycle pile.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

I decided recently to have a blitz on junk mail - so just plonk it straight back in envelope when I realise its not for me, seal envelope and write "Not known at this address" on envelope before sending back. Does seem to have done the trick.

I'm not out for playing silly b.........s in doing this. I am saving a bit of paper being wasted by a company using it for printing junk mail on and I am saving myself having to wade through various envelopes every day to see if any of it is actually for me. Its good to know that any letter that comes through the door is almost certainly really for me now.

Now - if only I could get these doorstep deliverers to be able to read (apparently a lot of them arent bright enough to be able to read the notice on my door requesting no junk mail).

    Hi,
You are quite correct on what you say, but, if you use the pre-paid issued with the junk mail,:hello: there is nothing anyone can say or do.

Thats isnt always the case as some companies have given instruction to RM to dispose of returns rather than send back to sender

But they still have to pay for this service.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Terraced housing is always the biggest targets for leaflets, I get up to 5 a day. The best ones are the take aways who deliver, and when you ring them up to see if they do to your area they say no its to far. Have you ever wondered why it is called junk mail? lets face it, how many credit cards do I need, how many loans can I take out, how often a year should I change my double glazing, have I really won readers digest millions, how many companies want my old clothes, are there that many people who want to buy my house?

Where does it stop, long live guerilla tactics.
