Junk mail - a way to feel better

having had enough of unsolicited mail dropping through our door I've started a new course of action instead of just (recycle) binning it.
Whenever something appears, eg last night it was otisdale estate agents, I go on the internet and find their address. Next I popped the flyer in an A4 envelope, addressed to "The manager" otisdale, etc, unstamped and stuck it in the post box.
Hopefully they'll get a note from royal mail saying theres a letter waiting for them and a fee to pay as it's unstamped. Then when they collect it and open it they can have their flyer back.
It may not work but would be nice if it cost the companies some money. Maybe we should all do that until it's costing the companies a fortune and I get made emperor of the world and am worshipped by all!

might be more fun to send them other companies stuff, like you get 2 lots of spam mail and you send them back to the opposite company, leaving off a stamp again.

My dad sends the pre-paid envelopes back full of junk mail.

Very rarely get junk mail now as for the last few years I have put on return to sender, as this costs the company money.

Like the flyer idea, going to give that a try.

I always return junk mail if they have pre-paid envelopes and I normally add other leaflets and junk. If the companies are really lucky they even get a used tissue if I have a cold! I see it as helping poor old Royal Mail increase their revenue by sending brick sized packets back to the junk mailer.

Or you could just register with the Mail Preference Service. Doesn't stop the hand delivered stuff but I get no other junk mail these days.

  • Maybe shred it first so it makes a nice mess when they open the envelope
  • Gosh......i wish I had all that spare time on my hands!

My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

Thats isnt always the case as some companies have given instruction to RM to dispose of returns rather than send back to sender
