I used to pay a childminder about £13 for three hours, from the end of the school day until 6pm. She also had three other children there as well. I now pay £9 for the after school club for the same time. The holiday club (8:30am-6pm) is only £23.
£13 for three hours ie just over £4 per hour or do you mean £13 per hour, if the latter was that for one child or two?

£13 for one child to cover the time from school collection at 3:15 until 6pm. The childminder also had 3-4 other children at the same time and so would have been making at least £17 an hour by my calculation.

The after school club that I used now charges £9 for the session but they have probably 20-30 kids there and employ about 4 members of staff.

Why is MSE promoting a Daily Mail story promoting Munsnet? If I wanted to read the DM or Mumsnet I would.

They are all linked, [STRIKE]Journalists[/STRIKE] cheap interns scour Liveleak, MSE, Mumsnet mental for "stories" throw in some lucrative link exchanges and we have what we have.

That's not the same as £16 per hour though, which is what I was querying.

dog walkers here charge about £8 an hour.. childminders are double that at least.. as they should be.. responsibility for another human is a far bigger deal than an animal.

I've never known of a childminder who charges £16 an hour per child. I suppose there is a difference between taking your child to a childminder's house, where they are allowed to care for a number of children at once, and having them come to your house where there are only your kids to look after.

Yes, the first has to be registered, inspected and has a ratio of ages and numbers to adhere to. The latter you can ask a teenager to do!
