Yeah, pity the lesson left a nasty taste in my mouth from your attitude.

But you do care where you sit. You want to sit next to your child. :D

Don't know about 'want', but would be most sensible if I was. :D

If the interior policy is known then this should be explained at the time of booking/paying.

A cynic would suggest that this is kept deliberately vague so as to persuade as many people as possible to pay for seat allocation. I mean, this used to be the default position until airlines realised they could generate another revenue stream by charging from it.

That cynic might well be right, and the cynical moneysaver would suggest that their policy is to charge you for something that their other policy says is how it has to be whether you pay or not.

Airlines always keep some seats to ensure children get to sit with parents. Rightly or wrongly i don't think that should be payable, just as long as they are placed together somewhere. It was wrong of Thomson to try to charge for this unless the OP was trying to reserve specific seats.

Why did you phone them when you found you had 2 seats apart if you didn't care what seats you got.

Yes of course it is sensible to sit a 2 year old and it's parent together but I was pointing out the obvious. You want to sit next to someone, therefore it's not a case of you not caring where you sit. Stale mate for the computer system. But, you will end up sitting with your child, so what's the issue?

It is not stale mate for the computer system, it is they should have a computer system that knows what the company will not provide. Now that is obvious.

The issue is that they try to charge you for a service that they know they will provide anyway for free, an given this is a money saving site, why wouldn't I vent about them wanting you to spend money that you dont have to.
They should say, before you try to pay for seats the policy they have for seating arrangements of children and adults and then give you the option to pay for the service that they provide for free, if you want to. How hard is that to understand?

    1. They don't charge for a service they will provide for free. You have a child under 12, that's a different kettle of fish.
    2. I didn't say you couldn't vent, I was merely pointing out the obvious in your vent.
    3. They don't need to specifically quote their policy on children as it's covered under different rules/regulations.
    4. Not hard at all, but you seem to be having a problem with it. :D

Yes. And maybe not that good parent either - if you would choose not to pay to sit next to your 2 year old child.
