I bought my first place just over 3 years ago and basically didn't give a second thought to changing my address with my banks, DVLA, passport office etc. I didn't give it much thought as the old address is my parents' therefore I always have access to my mail. However, it has dawned on me that I should have done so. I have just updated my address on my driving licence via the DLVA online portal. Should I change the address with my banks and passport office?
I assume that my address is correct on the electoral roll because I receive my voting cards at my home, however I am concerned that it'll affect my credit rating. Not sure why it would but whenever I apply for anything or need a credit check, I always use the old address out of habit. I really need to change this but unsure where to start. Any ideas?

Using the wrong address could be considered fraud. Definitely get everything updated.
Why not set up a mail redirect and then everything that arrives redirected you will know to update the address.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
http://www.iammoving.com/ is a quick way of updating lots of these sorts of things at once.0

From your other threads, aren't you in the process of moving again? This might complicate things slightly...
If you are on the electoral roll at your current house but give your parents' address when applying for financial products, I'm surprised your applications are accepted. You need to phone the council and check you're on the roll, though if you've been paying council tax (hope you have!) it may have been tied up with that.0 -
Perhaps you should consider moving back to mummy's0

I am indeed. How would it complicate? I will simply change it as soon as I move.
If I wasn't on the electoral roll for my current address surely I wouldn't get the voting cards? Yes, I've been paying council tax!0 -
You don't need to alert the passport office about a change of address, the passport is linked to you not your home so that's one less thing to worry aboutTotal debt at LBM = £4861.03

Then yes, sounds like you're on the electoral roll.
If your move is still some way off, change it with everyone now. If you'll be moving within the next couple of weeks, I wouldn't bother as you may get post about the address change after you've left.
For this move, make sure you do a Royal Mail redirect as you presumably won't have access to this property afterwards (like your parents)?
Fill in the redirect form and pay the fee a week before completion (but only if you've exchanged) as it takes up to five days for the redirect to take effect. On our last move, we had loads of post for the old owners for the first three days and then it stopped, so their redirection obviously didn't start in time. When you fill the form in, you can specify the start date.0 -

... but they only update the companies they are affiliated with, which is of limited use.0
