I'm not sure who you're talking to, but there doesn't seem to be a question in post #16...

    Sorry yes I see now,
no not the case. I do actually believe seller didn't know it was potentially as bad as it is underneath I felt pretty bad to report to her I had issues but it also put the wind up me by what my mechanic was saying having just driven the truck 150 miles down the motorway the day before. He did say he wasn't trying to scare me!

It's tricky, I still like the truck, it still has a fair few good points and does drive nicely, just needs all of its bits to stay attached! But I am very much not good with surprises or change as that is the way I am wired! So then flap a bit ;) I was well up for having to give it quite a bit of TLC to keep it going over the next 2/3 years (my pony is old, I don't need it to last too long!) but rather thought I would at least be able to get a bit of use out of it first! I also thought I had done my research on what else was out there, took someone who knew more than me etc etc as I like to be happy with my decision (My current car was the result of a spreadsheet comparison between the two models, much to the dealers amusement :p)

Hey ho, every vehicle I own I seem to learn something new about them! last 2nd hand one we did headgasket while under warranty followed by lots of DPF issues so learned all about them ;). Did the cambelt situ on a vehicle prior to that so I always think it odd when I ask people about them and they look back at you blankly as in this case. Specifically sort of went for this one as it is pre too many EU regs on diesel filters and has no french electronics associated with it like a newer van would. - we have one of those on the yard already!

Thank you for all of your replies, am not used to forums with thanks buttons, it has certainly given me a bit more to think about and I am less paniced than I was if I do end up just doing the work to get her back up to scratch.

Which, considering that list of suspension and steering "unroadworthy" faults is a minor miracle.
has no french electronics associated with it

Springs liable to cause an accident yet you managed to drive it home without issue from the springs?

The person checking them sell springs by any chance? or should be wearing glasses?
