Thursday 19th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Good morning my lovelies :hello:
Well, it's arrived - Chemistry paper 1 is this morning, and I actually think I'm more nervous than the kids. There's a lot riding on this for both me and the kids so fingers crossed the exam board have made us a nice easy paper to start. There are another 2 after this, which will definitely be tougher.
I haven't slept that well again and my brain is in overdrive a bit. So I have to do the usual - survival rather than anything more.
:cheesy: Check banking and PAD
:cheesy: Plan next week's lessons
:cheesy: chemistry exam
:cheesy: mark my Year 8 books
:cheesy: Aim for nsd
:cheesy: Meals from stores
:cheesy: Get dd to cheerleading tonight
:cheesy: Get both kids to help with housework
:cheesy: crochet to help me relax
That will do - have a good day everyone :beer:Not giving up

Morning all.
Been up and out since 4. Lovely morning.
I have thrown some seeds in the part of orchard laughingly called veg garden. Probably chickens are scratching seeds up again now!
Dogs have had a great morning.
Done 2 loads washing drying ironing and put away cheap rate.
Am showered and drinking milky coffee in bed wondering how to stop myself wasting money on small things. A melon I might forget to eat, a work shirt slightly too tight so never worn etc .
I have resisted lovely foreign swimming holiday, which I was desperate for but really can not afford and xm also not well enough to do. So am going to visit lovely sister and have family time. Looking forward greatly and also can afford this.
Dd did a top up shop yesterday 14. She called after her first uni exam of the summer. Then went for a bath with a baileys.
Ccl thinking of you and your pupils.
Take care all.

Hi May Marvellous-oes,
Thanks for the starter CCL.
Quick post. Feeling fine this morning.
Good luck to everyone who needs it today.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:
* Going for a brisk swim this morning in the outdoor pool before it rains too hard as part of my 5km swimming odyssey. Get a very long shower there afterwards. This will see me at the 4km mark. Done. Lovely swimming in the rain with the steam coming off the pool. Told myself I was swimming in a hot geo-thermically heated pool in Rekjavik. :rotfl: DW wasn't in the mood to come on a cold day so that was £4 saved.
* STV (local tv station) want to use one of my photos, a mural on the side of the Clutha bar which is now trading again after that terrible helicopter crash in 2013 which claimed the life of someone from our village. No money in it, this time, but free entertainment for me, and sometimes these things have gone on to lead to reward. To be honest it's not a fabulous shot, just a snap, but they obviously want it for something. Can't really ask for payment for a photo of a place where a tragedy happened, that's not appropriate! They spotted it on a photo sharing website I post on, on Facebook.
* Try and make constructive use of the rest of the day if I can make my mind up what I want to do.
* Breakfast was a derelict croissant. Will eat properly when I get home.
* DW and I are going to the cinema later. We are going to see separate films, at the same time, as we have different tastes; it'd be a waste to see a film that doesn't really float our boat. :rotfl: It's not a 2-for-1 day but we have the budget for it. Will take a small sandwich and a drink in with us.
How about you folks?

Morning all
Thanks for starting the thread CCL - hope the exam goes ok
Early start for you Maria - dog had me up at 5 am but instead of doing something productive like you, I shamelessly headed back to bed
Congratulations on the photo Ally - I can absolutely understand why you would think it inappropriate to ask for payment, but they might like to give a small donation to a local or Scottish charity? Either way, as you say, it might lead to other opportunities - here's hoping
Must try to be more productive today, as there will be no 2 year old in residence, and OH will be out all day as well :)So, today's plans are:
Cheap breakfast of porridge and a banana that really needs using up! Done
Small shop needed, probably Mr S, but must check vouchers etc in my bag before I decide. Will make a list as not much needed (but don't want to forget anything)! Done, used vouchers, got some nice YS items
Go to sales unit while out, to tidy up / see if anything needed Just a quick tidy, nothing sold
Walk for free exercise Used the car as when I looked, I needed more shopping than I thought
More walking with dog later (OH doing the morning shift before he heads off out) Done
Clean / tidy house, not sure exactly what yet, but there is plenty to choose from  Just a bit of tidying - motivation fail
Do anything needed in the garden, unlikely to be any outdoor watering after yesterday's downpours! Watered the plants in the plastic mini greenhouse
Make a pot of bolognese and a meat base for a shepherd's pie from a big pack of mince from the freezer Done, really stretched a 750g pack of mince
Check for any surveys, check FPL Did a few surveys for onepoll.
Check ebay items, no sales for a couple of days unfortunately I have loads to list, but will wait for next month's free listings allowance as the 35p per item is mounting up a bit  Small sale today
Wondering whether an ebay shop might make it cheaper, as it is business stuff that I sell - must look into this. Still not sure, the info is not that clear
Think about making a start on mine and OH's accounts / tax returns  I always do the groundwork to keep the accountant's fees to the minimum. Well, I thought about it.... but only briefly, used the excuse that we are still waiting for one of OH's P60s - but of course I could have started mine!
Well, that lot should keep me busy - hope everyone has a good day

I think the Clutha has a charity set up. Will look into it.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 The Joy Account: £10 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0
