Particularly the new changes relating to 'right to buy' for housing associations, finally this was pushed through last week but i'm not sure when it actually takes effect.
I'm signed up to updates from the information site , but the latest info has not come through yet - just wondering if any others are eager for this change to be implemented and have some information on when we will be able to start the process.
From what i understand it was made law when given royal assent on 13/05, but i don't know what then has to happen for it to be trickle down to HA's
Cant wait to finally stop throwing my money away, well over 150k in rent paid in the last 17 years already makes me sick, finally i cant stop paying other peoples mortgages and build some equity for my family

It's utterly shocking isn't it.
All that money and all you got was a roof over your head and a place to bring up your family.0 -
Its utterly unconvincing. Likelihood of a newbies first post being about their keenness to take up the right to buy?0

For 17 years you haven't had to worry about housing. all nicely provided for you. No repair bills to pay, no responsibility for instructing contractors. Just a nice secure home at a nice subsidised rent......0

I could have owned a house in some parts of the country for that money, and if i did i'd stop paying rent and the value of my assets would consistently increase.
This situation is far more desirable than the perpetual rent setup that most 20/30's people now find them selves locked into, even with families.
Of course , no thanks to all those terrible people in the 80's and before who took advantage of right to buy and incredibly affordable property prices, enabling them to live as they do these days in total command of the housing market, begrudging anyone that might get a bit of what they have, as far as poo-pooing the law when changes are made to help then.
You can hardly try to bestow blame or attitude towards people stuck in such comparatively a bad deal, you post exhumes bitterness and sadness.0 -

To clarify , i have been HA for about half my rented time, private for the other half.
but i'm in HA now , and should qualify - i feel like something is going my way for once, law usually just end up giving me a bad deal, so all the hate is very much appreciated.
I asked a simple question, about a new law, maybe this is not the best place to discuss any more, i used this place several years ago and i had a lot more constructive help :cool:0 -

So why didn't you? Plenty of people had to move to afford property. And it's no sure thing your asset would have appreciated....
Do me a favour on the bitterness and sadness front...0 -
I just echoed oystercatcher's comment that if you were in HA accommodation you couldn't be paying other people's mortgagesIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
