That's true G_M there could be. But until I hear otherwise I'm assuming I'm waiting for the date of completion and exchange
    personally I'd assume the opposite.

Until you hear the date of completion and exchang, assume there is something outstanding!

If you are having a mortgage has your solicitor drawn down the funds and if not suggest you ask him what is the cutoff date/time when he will know it's too late for Friday completion.
This is relevant. Your solicitor needs to ask your mortgage company for the money. Then your mortgage company need to send it to your solicitor. This all takes time. Could well be too late by now.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

The reason I have taken to emailing him is because for one when I rang him before he would be unavailable or on a call, lunch etc. Was hard to pin down. My sister suggested from her past experience to email him and he does respond quick to emails. And another reason being I work 9-5, as does my solicitor, I'm a secretary so easy for me to email.

We are waiting for the sellers solicitor to get in touch. The lady selling the house is elderly and her sister in law has been dealing with things. So when she signed the contract last week the sister in law just picked it up, got seller to sign it and dropped it back off. Their solicitor then said she would ring seller Monday am to make sure all OK with her and OK to proceed as she hadn't seen her or spoke to her. Hope that makes sense. But as I am in touch with the sister in law I know this phone call hasn't happened yet. So told my solicitor to get on to theirs, and sister in law is going to too.

I will ask my solicitor about the issue with funds etc as yes we are getting a mortgage. I still have the deposit in my bank too. He hasn't asked for that yet either.

Thank you all for your help xx

Not wanting to rain on your hopes unduly, but if he's not reached for any money yet? Not the best sign.

Also there can be delay on the seller's side - and lawyers and elderly females? Neither reputed to move quickly by inclination.

It's a blinking tough gig being an FTB - you have to pace yourself. Other than being sure that you have as much as you can ready to go, now carry on with the day job & plan a nice takeaway for Friday.

We bought theatre tickets - and enjoyed three shows before that "worked". I do not recommend accidents like breaking a limb (although that did seem to have a disconcertingly galvanizing effect over a decade ago for a cousin).

Can you ring your solicitor's secretary? I took mine a box of chocolates & a bunch of flowers when I took the cheque in - I'd spoken to her so often!

Er, it's the exchange date you need first. Has that happened?

Ah right. I have just seen this and it's quarter to 6 now.

He said he would ring tomorrow with instructions. I have had an email from nationwide to say they are releasing funds on the 19th, which is Thursday.

How are you getting your deposit to your solicitor? Bank transfer can be immediate, but may incur costs, depending upon the method used and the exact sum. My solicitor asked for 3 working days to clear a cheque.

PP I don't know. I'm assuming he is going to tell me all this tomorrow. I just thought it would be a transfer from my online banking as you would transfer any money
