Hi all,
I'm at the end of my ftb process now, from the offer being accepted on the house we are buying at the beginning of March. There's no chain. Things have gone fairly smoothly other than the homebuyers report prompting us to get some tradesmen in for quotes and then renegotiating the price of the house, and an issue with a public sewer pipe running under the detached garage.
We've signed our contract and seller has signed hers. House is completely empty. Seller is keen to get things done and dusted as she is now paying council tax on 2 properties - this house and her new bungalow.
Last week both solicitors were on board with exchange this week and completion by the end of the week. No word yesterday from my solicitor so emailed him this morning and he said he would chase up sellers solicitor.
Is it still going to be doable to exchange and complete this week? Can the last stage happen in that time frame?
Thanks for any thoughts. All new to me and are learning lots as it goes along!

Exchange and completion can be same day (especially convenient in no chain transactions)0

Thanks Guest101. So I guess it could happen this week then. Fingers crossed!0

Ha well I am getting on the solicitors nerves I think so you never know!0

on the other hand there may be some outstanding issue and it could take another 2 months......0

That's true G_M there could be. But until I hear otherwise I'm assuming I'm waiting for the date of completion and exchange0

At this stage i would not be emailing, too easily ignored, use the phoneNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Agree with this. I'd only email to follow-up/confirm phone conversations.
Don't worry about getting on the sols nerves. They gave a timescale, so unless they provide reason why this can't now happen, as far as you're concerned it's still happening! So push for it! Good luck :beer:0 -
If you are having a mortgage has your solicitor drawn down the funds and if not suggest you ask him what is the cutoff date/time when he will know it's too late for Friday completion.
Also ask what he's waiting on.0 -
I phoned my solicitor everyday and it did more to push the process than emails."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
