biscuit I took mine once they had finished their GCSE's to have theirs done.. they can't wear any earrings for school so what is the point before then? And I loathe seeing small children with them done... each to their own and all that but I don't like to see it. I do think it should be illegal under 16 or 18.

Think my girls were 13 before they had their ears done eldest was desperate to get hers done but we said not before then, grandpa made them a certificate giving them permission at that age and they actually thought you needed your grandparents permission to get them done. Lol the lads thankfully never even asked or bothered.
At infant school they have the hassle of having to wear ear tape during pe games etc in the playground there the worry they could get knocked and catch them. Times I've had tearful children saying they've lost an earring or a back.
I don't think it's that common at primary that everyone in the class would be done there's only five or six in the tape queue in the younger classes.
Don't be dictated to you are responsible for keeping them safe clean and infection free and it's you that will feel guilty if they do get injured because of them.
My opinion only and everyone is perfectly entitled to their own view.

Just back in from work, need coffee and then I'll decide what I'm doing, washing gamble paid off as its all dry.

There must be something in the water at the moment with the small people. Mine are just vile this evening (well, DS has been vile all day, I think he is Dizzy's Tiny's long lost twin brother lol).

They got in the door and started hitting each other with toot toot cars - it has been confiscated. They don't want their dinner even though its their favourite and they have spilt milk on the kitchen floor. Oh and DD has already lost the pretty necklace she bought with her spends on holibobs. I know they are only little (3 and 2) but it just feels like a really really long stretch of hard work at the moment....

Mine seem to have found their manners...

Weather forecast is rain all through tomorrow's picnic plans. Why oh why did I volunteer my home as a wet weather venue? Maybe everyone has forgotten lol.

  • I agree about the earrings, by the way, I didn't have mine done until I was thirty! I have no intention of letting her have them done, I just vaguely said she can have them done when she is responsible - I have very high expectations where being responsible is concerned!

    Hi all x
Paid stuff done for the day. Spent most of the day jumping over workmen who were fitting the new coffee machine to get to the tills or the kitchen. Had one ghastly women who had a fit when I said I couldn't make coffee, she was shouting cancel the whole order then. Then changed her mind and took a Oj. Cue her having a hundred complaints about her meal when I asked how it was, offered to change it for her but no she would just manage. Why do I work with the public?

OH did a quick s/s of scullery and I tidied the LR. I will stick a load in the WM in a mo.

I will update my list hopefully I can knock a few things off it tomorrow as I don't start till 5, then I'm off for a huge bubbly bath with my book.

HRH had her ears pierced 3 weeks ago. She's 12 next month. I had mine done about 6. It's all about how you feel about it. Just do what's right for you xxx My cousins wee girl (7) ended in the hospital last week cause the back of the earing was embedded in her ear. I have been keeping an eye that HRH is keeping hers clean and looking after them properly but to be fair she's doing a great job without my help.

House reasonable though I can't say I've put much effort in anywhere this week.
Hoped for a quick assessment this morning and home to do some gardening - bah - I just don't get those sort of students! This one was late, needed a break part way through and disappeared to another building to get a drink and all sorts of issues. Left about the same time as if I'd started at 1pm which meant loads of traffic. Went the country way home feeling mega stressed. All I wanted to do was go home and take my horse for a relaxing ride through the fields. Can't believe he's been gone nearly 5 yrs. Got home, Mr N took one look at me and said "What's up?". Burst into tears. !!!!!! what am I, 10? And arrived home too late to post the parcel I needed to do. Lunch at 5.30 then fell asleep in the conservatory.

Wandered round garden and pulled a few weeds, amazing how fast they grow.

Fingers crossed for my neighbour's wedding tomorrow which is at a hotel venue with nice gardens. Rather sweet; she is retired; he is ......over 80 and they are both widowed. I know them from church, they have asked anyone from church to join them in celebration.

Other weekend plans - de weed the garden. All of it. See you in about October.............

Valli meant to say sorry to hear about your cat. Still not easy even if you know your decision was best.

Fwiw school staff are not supposed to help children manage/sort/insert earrings. This week I had a child say hers hurt, I had to model on my ears how to loosen the back for her to copy.
I was 16 when I had mine, DD, at 20, is still unscathed! She had ear problems when younger so we decide to leave it for a while, now she's not bothered
