Cats don't like bananas. so leave plenty of peels around your garden.
They also don't like dogs and large farm yard animals like pigs and sheep.

They also don't like to walk on gravel.

    can't think of anything else.
Oh, they don't like loud noises, like trip wires that set off alarms.

Im my last house I got so annoyed with this problem that I threw some mud at one.
It respected "my garden area" after that.

Non of my cats has ever been like this!

My first cat came face to face with a deer and decided to try and smell it and make friends. He didn't generally give a s**t about many things...except leaves, he was s**t scared if a leaf was blown!

My current cat actively seeks out dogs so that it can get all angry and hiss at them! He doesn't notice gravel and has no such fear of loud noises. Not tried him on bananas but I think he'd eat them as he eats anything...even defrosting loaves of bread that have been left on the side!

Of the shelf complete ready to go kit probably £50+

the expensive model Scarecrow from the US is around £90

Yes, I bought a Contech Scarecrow off Amazon. it was £50 at the time, although the hose connector valve the seller supplied was rubbish, so I also had to buy a proper Hozelock connector for a few more quid.

It's been great, zero cat deposits since installation. :)

I have had constant visit by upto 8 cats -confirmed via Cctv. I initially tried orange peel, tea bags etc etc.
Then installed ultrasonic cat scarer - it works but not 100%. Then got another one for the rear garden - it stopped my neighbours cat pooing in our lawn.
Human pee does work - it's like marking your territory.
Now I have a water scarecrow (from a large online vendor) -have not seen any new cat poos.
I had a thread a yr or so ago about the same thing.
    Good luck.
Ps: one of the neighbors came looking for a missing cat - I said unlikely given the number of deterrent!!!!she did not look impressed

    Well, she should have been.

Far better to have a neighbour with deterrents than some low-life moron with a pellet gun.
  • Yep, definitely need to take up one of the options. Just spotted one of the !!!!!!s prowling around the garden, stopping and deciding to relieve itself. It looked like the neighbors cat directly next to me who has a much bigger garden. I wonder if she has the same problems?

With these electronic deterrents, do they tend to be battery operated or need to be plugged into the mains?

That sounds like a realistically usable method - and free too.

Does it make any difference which sex the person it comes from is? As I've gathered before that the constituent "ingredients" can be a bit different, dependant on sex of person concerned.

I have no idea I'm afraid.... Maybe try with the male of the household as it's easier to aim in a carrying vessle! If doesn't work maybe try female... Let us know if successful! If I were to do it I'd mark where the animal pooped as well as different areas around garden.

Both versions are available - Mains powered ones are way better - no need to constantly change the battery - My postman/delivery man and most of the foot traffic on the road set the repeller. I swapped my mains powered to the front so that I dont need to constantly replace (rechargeable - if using use ones with low self discharge, like Hybrio).

Cheapest - but a bit !!!!y is - collect pee and sprinkle - one night should suffice to keep them away for a few days. Unfortunately continue use of this might make ur lawn smell like :p
