Memory foam topper..1" or 2"? Firmness?

Can the bed experts please advise me?
I've read through the forums and I know that I want a mattress topper made of memory foam and from one of the eBay shops.
I bought a medium/firm thick latex mattress 6-7 years ago and a French sprung slatted bed frame base and have been happy with that combination. But recently I have work-related back and neck pain and I'm finding the mattress too firm.
I've read that 2"(5cm) is the optimal thickness but I'm also considering 1"(2.5cm) because I want to be able to use my fitted sheets.
I've also noticed 3 quality (or firmness?) levels, ranging from 40kg to 55kg to 75kg, the last of which is described as Tempur type.
The 75kg is a bit beyond my budget, I think. So which should I go for?
1" at 55kg
or
2" at 40kg
or
anything else in the memory foam options?
My bedframe is French, so 200cm x 140cm.
I go to sleep on my back with one pillow and awake on my front with no pillow and I don't feel like I've slept well.

I have also found an affordable 2" at 50kg.
I hope the mattress people will answer me soon. I need to do something about my bad sleep asap.0 -
Bump!
Anyone?
I've found a 2" at 50kg and I'm thinking about going for that...0 -
I went for a 4" and got a cool max cover and deeper fitted sheets. It is heaven getting into bed! So comfortable. Recommended to family, those who have bought, also say the same. My partner still has some bad nights but he does have problems with his spine. Hope this helps.0

Where did you buy the deeper fitted sheets?0

How firm you want it to be and how deep depends on your weight, if you are heavy you want something deeper and firmer. If you are light then thinner and softer will work best.Hi. I have a 2" thick topper and weigh about 58kgs. Getting into bed is heaven. The foam is very dense and my mattress is described as "firm", and as I don't like a soft mattress, the combination works well for me.0 -
Have bought them from John Lewis, also Amazon. Picked up a lovely one in TKMaxx.0
