Have you tried making an official complaint?

In the process now. I have phoned Citizen's Advice 30 times today with no answer. I have been told that a local Fraud team will investigate but I am not allowed email addresses or telephone numbers.

My husband has made over 17 calls to the DWP in the last few days and ech department claim, they have nothing to do with it!!:mad::mad:

    Google ActionFraud to report.

Have you found the court case details?

    Update:

A little success today. We walked into the Job Centre and explained the problem. We told them that the Local Fraud team is who we need to speak with, we have no other contact information.

We ended up speaking with a fraud investigator, who was appalled with what had happened. After 13 years DWP had NEVER reported it as fraud with any other department!! Therefore it was never resolved!! He said a case this old should of been closed off years ago and the fact they have taken money from wages is unacceptable.

He has taken on the information to look into. We have been told that the best course of action is our MP and also another person ( He provided us with name and address). We need to write explain the problem and demand both our money back and compensation!!

    So a little further forward!!!

Checked with fraud investigation, they have told me that no court case is required for DWP to obtain money. They are allowed to take money as they see fit!!

We didn't receive any other notice

Do ask for the compliant procedure to be set in process. This will cause the DWP to investigate it fully.

Also as missapril sugests get your MP involved.

Could be worth citing financial hardship and request the DWP reduce the amount of deductions pending the outcome of the your compliant?

    Re compensation:

But, there is little other info on compenastion online (I wonder why!!).
So, your MP may be the person to continue this conversation with should the DWP reponse be insufficient.

I've already spoken with the MP a few days ago and the case is in process. We just wanted our money back asap.

We cant ask for a reduction, as they have already taken the full amount and closed the case. My husband has phoned them 7 times today and every department is blaming the other :(

So it's a DEA, which the employer must notify your husband about, in writing.

Yes a DEA. He did get it in writing from DWP only. When he spoke with the dispute team about this, he was advised to arrange a payment plan so they dont take the full amount. By the time the payment plan was in place they could look into the fraud side. He was told that paperwork would be in the post. It never happened.

They connected the employer directly and took the whole amount
