Can I get this default removed?

I opened a Capital One account when I was 18 (my first credit card) with a limit of £200, of which, stupidly, did not pay at all. Capital one closed my account, I then paid the £200 in full to confirm closure. This was not passed on to any debt agency. I closed it roughly 18 months - 2 years ago.

I now have a default on my credit report. Can I get this removed as I paid it in the end?

I did try and search but couldn't find someone with my situation exactly.

Thanks all

    Hi simple answer is no.
You have paid it, the is no bargaining power.
I was in a similar position to you, paid default off, directly, not through a debt collection agency. It's been on my credit reports since July 2010.
It will drop off after 6 years.
It's paid so will look much better than unpaid.
Mine was not a barrier to a mortgage.
    Good luck

Unlikely, although there may be someone, more knowledgeable, along soon, who can correct me.

The default is an accurate reflection of how you managed your credit.

Learn from it and as time passes it will have less impact. It will eventually drop off your CR after 6 yrs.

Default remains. Payment had to change its status to 'settled'.

settled looks better on your file than default anyway. but it will still affect you as it was so recent.
