Does make sense, but sorry driving in US isn`t for me.0

You'll barely notice being on the other side of the road as you'll be on the other side of the car. Add in the fact it'll be an automatic (no problems having to get used to changing gear with the other hand) and the roads are so much wider and you'll be wondering what you were worried about within 30 minutes.
Then you can worry about where you want to go, rather than where the public transport can take you or how long the coach tour will let you look at something interesting before moving you on to the obligatory gift shop stop!
Coach tours are NOT public transport -public transport tends not to have gift shop stops

For what's it worth this is my offering. Definitely look at JetBlue and SouthWest for the internal flights. Be careful to include baggage though. So long as your connections are not the same day you don't need the single ticket protection. The single ticket protection can also be misleading. I was once rerouted by American for their convenience, only to find a subsequent ticket leg cancelled as a result, and a supervisor saying essentially you have a made-up story I don't believe. Cost was only about $80 to put right, but it could have been a lot more. Niagara is fabulous to see, but the town is tacky. The Maid of the Mist is good, but on the American side the Cave of the Winds is unmissable, you literally get to stand in the falls, albeit at a very gentle side part, although it won’t feel gentle. Washington is very interesting, and I’d allow for more time there. Personally I’d drop New Orleans completely, but that’s just me. I'd put that time into Toronto, Montreal or Florida beaches. Key West is tiny, and I’d say two days in the Key West is enough, especially as its expensive. I know you don’t want to drive and I accept that, but I would add to others the drive down from Miami to Key West is very scenic for the passengers, not for the driver so much assuming you’re watching the road. Good luck and hope you have a great time.0

Thanks dougzz for replying.
I thought you could go behind the falls on the Canadian side as well as the American, is the Canadian one not worth it?
Still looking at options but JetBlue and SouthWest are definitely on our list. None of our connections would be on the same day, assuming I can get flights from A - B.
Have you been to New Orleans, or is it just not your thing? We have always fancied Key West, our plan is about 3 maybe 4 days (but plans are flexible until its actually booked)
Thanks again for your advice0 -
This is a trip along the Overseas Highway including a visit to Key West, which I thought might interest you:katies_mum wrote: »We have always fancied Key West

You don't go behind the falls on the American side. You just go to the bottom of the American Falls where they have built a deck. You wear a plastic mac and also foam sandals and get very wet! It's definitely the best experience at the Falls.
The journey behind the falls on the Canadian side is a bit meh, and also overpriced for what it is.
As I mentioned before, the Maid of The Mist is not worth doing unless you feel you really have to. You don't get that close to the falls (not even close enough to get wet really).
The view from the Skylon tower is worthwhile as well.0 -

Hi Katie
Have a really thourough research Key West before you commit to 3-4 days.
It's quite a Marmite place.
The (looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong) drive down was OK, The (lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng) drive back was OK.
There are lots of people taking advantage of its relaxed approach and distance from the 'mainland'
.
Think Stag Night in Blackpool as your starting point.0 -
cubegame, thanks I hadn`t realised that about going behind the falls. Just assumed both sides were similar.
I don`t like Marmite!! Murphy_The_Cat...have been reading Trip Advisor a lot and to me Key West just seems like a place to chill for a few days, maybe I need to do a little more research (suppose its different if you have your own car then you can move on if you don`t like it) as we won`t have need to make right decisions for each place we visit. Thanks0 -
Key West is a busy place. As Murphy correctly says, think Blackpool and more. Or Venice Beach, California.
One of the smaller towns along the Keys would be a better choice for somewhere to relax."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0
