Not sure of the best order would to visit these places?

BTW car or bus is possible between Miami and Key West if you want a break from airport hassle and fancy a bit of a road trip.
TripAdvisor forums are good for tips on this.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Thanks again, we used Google flights last year and found them great, also easier to use than some of the other sites. Great suggestion to book the 2 main flights on on ticket then the others individually. The minimum time in any one place would be 2-3 days.
I did see you can get from Miami to Key West by bus one way (return if wanted) and then could fly on. So much to consider, it was so easy when we just did one city! lol0 -
Jet Blue gave a great flight from JFK to Buffalo. Better leg room than BA long haul economy.
Niagara Falls is an awful place. Consider seeing the falls, doing the Maid of the Mist and then immediately driving into Canada and driving towards Niagara On The Lake. Some fabulous scenery and lovely squirrels!
Alternatively, land in the morning, depart in the evening and spend an extra day elsewhere.0 -
Crikey is it that bad? we were only going to have 2 days there in order to do the Maid of the Mist, behind the falls etc. Will have a look at Jet Blue, thanks.0

It's not bad, it's just a tacky tourist town. Use it as a base to see the falls then leave.
As you don't seem to want to have a car, I'm not sure driving up to Niagara on the Lake is really worthwhile either. Yes it's pretty, but it's nothing special and I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of immigration procedures - plus you already have a lot of things planned for a short amount of time!0 -
Niagara is OK if you do something like the Presidents tour with Gray Lines, it takes just about all day and gets you to the front of every line, includes lunch and dinner and finishes with a view of the falls after dark when they are lit up.
As for order to do the trip in, I would get a direct flight to Miami and another home from Washington with Key West, New Orleans and Niagara in between.
You can get all the main sights to see in Washington in 5 days providing you are willing to walk all day, there are a few places that you need an advanced ticket for (still free) and the Pentagon and the White house tours can be booked solid at peak holiday times so try for them as soon as you get to town (not sure if you can still book online)0 -
Got to see it!! but won`t be driving so will be dependent on flights in and out of Buffalo, but have only allocated 2 days in our plan :-)0

torbrex, had not considered a tour as we usually plan and manage it all ourselves.
We will be walking as much as possible (did the same last year but different cities) I`ve read lots about Washington DC, thanks for the ticket advice I have some of those places in our notes.
The only reason we thought about Washington DC and Niagra first was we thought the Miami and Key West bit would be more chilling compared to busy Washington DC and even New Orleans.
Will start to play about with places and flights over the next few days.
Thanks everyone your advice is great.0 -

New Orleans is a bit hectic in the main areas, but I personally found DC to be more relaxed. It's still busy, but it's spread out with wide streets, so it doesn't feel as busy (to me anyway - I've had people disagree with that).0
