Hi All

In a few weeks time we will be moving from the home counties to Wales, my wife will not drive on a motorway so i need to arrange her car to get there , i have never even had to consider this sort of thing before

How do i get it done and where should i look?

Cheers

This. Tell the wife to MTFU and just drive the bloody thing there.

Map out a route avoiding motorways or find a friend willing to drive her car there and pay for his/her journey back by public transport.

My wife is the same so I just put it in my time machine fast forwarded 3 hours and we were there in a flash.
  • Drive it for her?

    Sell the car?

Or get the removal firm your using to quote for it.

Personally if my wife didn't feel she was competent to drive on a motorway I would be going for the first option.

Every Sat-Nav surely has a 'route options' menu where one can choose to avoid toll-roads, ferries and several other things - including motorways.

Or, if your wife also dislikes Sat-Navs, you could use an on-line route-planner and print it out for her. Note that many of these on-line sites refer to motorways as 'highways' in their options list.

It's sometimes surprising how little extra time avoiding motorways adds to a journey

You could get the car transported using a service like Shipley. Worked well when I needed to shift a SORN'd car 150 miles for about £130.

Or get rid of the wife. :D
