When is this madness going to end?

Those figures refer to use of motorcycles as a mode of transport on public roads and not to road racing. Riding at 150 miles per hour is not generally possible on your way to work.
It's also possible to show that cycling is the most dangerous way to travel if expressed in miles travelled.
Road racing is nuts. Whether you think it's a good idea to permit an activity that England banned in 1925 is the question. I'm a motor cyclist and I've no interest in racing. Possibly an acceptance of my own lack of talent, or an indication that I enjoy my life too much to risk it. A certain minority of people are up for it, a life less ordinary and all that, in the same way as some people think it's a good idea to go to Syria to join Islamic state.

Whos going to be brave enough to propose banning it, among our spineless government?

Same old argument every year. No one is forcing them to do it, same as no one is forcing people to eat, smoke and drink themselves to death.0

No, but there are endless campaigns designed to persuade people from doing the above.
The smokers and drinkers pay a fair bit of tax as well. Along with the obese, they save the system a fortune by failing to make it to pension age.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -
Actually, both of those sound like excellent ideas to me - end the drug problem, and give people freedom of choice.
I take it (or even toke it) you've been to Amsterdam? Mary Jane is big business over there. Perhaps we could lobby stormont to change the law here, thus attracting tourists and boosting the local economy. Farmers could ditch unprofitable cattle and put up a few polytunnels. We could have smoky cafes in every small town, crisp manufacturers will boom and society will take on a more peaceful vibe. Could be just what this country needs with .. And..
