Hello Saturday Savers,
Tired today thanks to cat clawing bedroom door with all his might from 4.45am. Was so wide awake, decided I may as well get up & go to tge loo. Opened bedroom door & he shot through my legs & when I returned, he was sitting on top of mr f nibbling his elbows, so that was both of us awake at stupid o'clock. Grrrrr! Today's money sense things:
*Took filled cobs & crisps on our city centre trip to save on buying lunch out.
*Free coffee & cake in John Lewis (loyalty card vouchers).
*Free 2nd coffee for the drive home from Waitrose.
*A free Boots showergel each - O2 Priorities.
*Used birthday giftcards to buy new sunglasses & a watch. Both items I needed & I didn't need to add any cash. I enjoy choosing much more than when I was frittering money around all the time.
*Picked up free Boots mag.
*Watered veggie garden & greenhouse.
*Did some weeding/clearing & planted out a big tray of cosmos (free seed).
*Pulled a bit of rhubarb & baked rhubarb & clementine drizzle muffins. Mr f said "Mmmm, these are good, Babe'.....as he was stuffing one down. Little did he know that they were made from the 4 ageing clementines he chucked in the compost bucket on Thursday morning. Now't wrong with 'em! I fished them out as soon as he'd left for work :-)
*Still to do - make picnic for our trip up to Yorkshire tomorrow.
*Free leisure time now - feet up & read book.
Cheers all,

OH had done a load of washing and line dried it whilst I was gone.
Home made burgers in the oven.

Evening all
Thanks for starting us off PF
Foxgloves, I think my pup has been speaking with your cat - he had me up at 4.40 this morningThe rhubarb and clementine muffins sound lovely - can you post the recipe, or a link please? I would have pulled those clementines out of the compost caddy too! Our past its best citrus fruit gets frozen, mainly for use in marmalade, but for anything else where lemon / orange juice is required too
Ally, your plans for the day sound lovely. Hope you enjoy it
Today I have:
Cheapie porridge breakfast with HG fruit from freezer
Hoovered and washed the floors downstairs, while DH blitzed the conservatory
Small top up shop (OH's beer mainly!)
Posted another ebay sale
Popped into sales unit whilst out, to tidy up. Ebay seems to be doing a lot better atm!
HM meals - I seem to be doing HM burgers at the moment too Bob, we had lamb souvlaki ones tonight (recipe from Hugh FW). The fancy ones in the supermarket are really expensive, and I hate those really thin tasteless ones that look like something scraped off your shoe! I am going to make some Thai themed pork ones next week
Got a terrine in the oven too, as we seem to have a thing for pate at the moment
Picked HG salad to go with dinner
Got a load of washing dry outside
Entertained GD for free with sand and water play in the garden
Now got to put GD's toys away and water whatever needs it in the back garden (did the front last night).0 -
Wow how good is this weather.
Yesterday ds cleaned all outside Windows and I did inside.
Lots of washing done and free dried- bliss
Just been round the cows in bright morning sun as the dew was burning off the grass. Nothing calving and all ok so just a lovely morning. Am off to get colostrum out of freezer for a calf born in the night that he boys pulled and it has not fed yet. The joys!!
Such a lovely day. Ds at work on a tractor and dd hiding in bed to avoid revision as long as possible.
Have a glorious weekend all.
Mr t delivered yesterday. Fridge is very full and I am 155 lighter0 -

Morning all :hello:
As I'd suspected, yesterday turned out to be quite busy and then I decided to spend a bit of quality family time so didn't come back on last night. I feel quite tired again this morning (always tired) and have another busy-ish day ahead.
Foxgloves - loving the sound of the muffins.
Bob - hope dd is feeling better soon.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

Morning all,
Today will mainly be spent reovering from an epic day in Glasgow yesterday:
* Having a big breakfast before we leave. Wonderful. Got to the station to find all (hourly) trains cancelled because of animals on the line. Ran down hill like a bat out of hell to get the bus instead. Driver kindly told us to buy a return rather than a single as this would be cheaper. Bus crowded but luckily we got a seat. Added 40 mins to our journey time, however.
* Walk from station to Glasgow Green (park) via the riverside walkway. Have a walk around park and drink our own coffee. Lovely. Lots of photos. Sun shining brightly. Took a salad packed lunch. Enjoyed watching an adult learning to cycle and some teenagers practising gymnastic tumbles.
* Visit the People's Palace. Also lovely. The Winter Gardens were heated to about 50 degrees. Felt like we were in Asia. Lots of photogra-faffing.
* Walk around the Barra's Market. DW has never been here. Perhaps there'll be a bargain or two, you never know. Just bought an ice-cream.
* Get the Subway to Kelvingrove and mess around in the park there and at the free museum. We were short on time so we just stayed on Glasgow Green.
* Go back to the city and have dinner. Not quite decided where we're going for this. Need to look for coupons. We went to a cheap burger bar. Not many vouchers about for what we like to eat that were valid on a Saturday.
* Off to the Opera. Keeping it light this time, a Savoy Opera on £12 tickets. Take in our own drinks and sweeties.Took our own snacks and drinks. Theatre performance was interrupted by Fire Alarm at the start of Act Two! Thankfully a false alarm after a beam broke, but the whole four-storey theatre had to be evacuated. It's a long-way down all those stairs from the Balcony! But a tidy evaculation of 1200+ people. We returned to watch Act Two but had to leave before the end because the last form of public transport home leaves at 10.30pm.
We took the decision not to stay because we'd have to get a hotel for the night. Will find a YouTube clip for DW to watch as she doesn't know how the opera ends. DW was in a bit of a state when we got out, as a few years ago, some of you will remember, we survived a house fire.
She's still a bit wobbly this morning. And, no, we didn't take photos of the evacuation to sell to the press; gotta have some standards! Anyway, a marvellous performance, and overall a lovely day.
Today I plan on doing Sweet Smurf All on the sofa...I may even wrap us in bubble-wrap to protect us from any further dramas...:rotfl:
How about you folks?
Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Oh Ally what a drama, and what a shame because it sounds like the rest of the day was lovely. You always seem to plan such nice days out.
Sshh but hubby thinks I am on here working on the audit I am supposed to be doing. I have done some of it but its sooo boring. Still its £30 extra.
Mr A shopping delivered, nicely in budget. Reduced piece of pork loin in the sc, it looks a bit small but I will do lots of yorkshires and veggies. I am washing all bedding and getting it out in the sun. School clothes and work stuff in the pile for washing too.
Dog walk later.
I need to finish this audit.0 -
Afternoon all
Sorry to hear about the dramas with the trains and fire alarm Ally, it sounded such a lovely day you had planned
YL, if hubby thinks you are working on an audit, what do you think HE is doing to earn extra?
I have just had a disaster with a bottle of Brasso - stupidly knocked the open bottle flying all up the walls and over the carpet  A pain, but not a disaster - the walls are just painted and it washed off, and the carpet is an old Middle Eastern rug on a wooden floor, so that got a scrub too, and it is currently outside drying. That is why I love old stuff, you can't really ruin it, even if you are as clumsy as me :rotfl: Imagine if it were a fitted carpet  I suspect I will be finding splatters of the stuff for months though, as there was even some on the TV :rotfl:
Today's list:
Got some useful to me bits like unopened cupcake cases and tomato fertiliser for pennies at this morning's car boot sale, and a replacement travel box for the dog (which I was planning to buy anyway, as he only has the old broken one that our previous dog had for years, and it was only £6 instead of £30 plus), alongside the few bits of tat I bought for selling on
HM meals from stores - the terrine I made yesterday was a success, even though I overcooked it
Bit of paperwork and invoice wrangling done for small biz
Still to do:
Dog walk Done
Rescue carpet from garden table once dry, and give it a good hoover Done
List a couple more bits on ebay, run out of free listings, but never mind, the stuff is selling, that is the main thing! Done, and 1 item has already sold
Water anything that needs it All ok today :T
Sweep courtyard as I managed to scatter potting compost everywhere yesterdayNot done this yet
Must pack ebay item for posting tomorrow
Early night as it took me ages to get off to sleep last night, and the dog had me up early again!!
Sort out some bits for sales unit tomorrow Done0
