    A radon search is pretty standard in an environmental search
    Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

    I certainly never knew that there was a radon risk in parts of London. I was warned of a risk on my new home. I had no idea that my old house was affected and very much doubt that my buyers were warned, ditto my ex who has also bought in a radon affected area.

    That's because there is only a small risk in some parts of London (around 1% of properties in a few areas) whereas Northamptonshire is high risk with more than 30% of properties above the action level.

    In addition target levels were lowered by Public health England in 2010, this meant that some areas where it previously would not have been raised as an issue now fall into potential areas for carrying out checks. However Northamptonshire has always fallen into this category and by some margin.

    Therefore it does not surprise me that you were unaware in London before 2010. But the situation in Northamptonshire is different. Sellers in Northants will be aware because they were once buyers in a high risk area.
